Yet more insanity from the topsy-turvy world of the surrender monkeys:

A French appeals court ruled yesterday that a 78-year-old Frenchman who attacked Marcel Duchamp’s famed porcelain urinal with a hammer last year does not have to pay $260,000 in damages.

Pierre Pinoncelli chipped the work, valued at $3.6 million, during a January 2006 exhibition of the Dada movement at the Pompidou Center in Paris.

He also scrawled “Dada” on the urinal.

At the time Pinoncelli said his actions were not vandalism but a “wink” at the early 20th-century art movement that had Duchamp’s blessing. Duchamp, who died in 1968, emphasized the creative pro-cess and a role for the spectator.

The lower court that convicted Pinoncelli last year gave him a three-month suspended sentence and ordered him to pay the Pompidou $18,600 for repairs and another $260,000 to cover the artwork’s depreciation.

The appeals court upheld the suspended sentence and the smaller fine but said Pinoncelli did not have to pay the Pompidou for any loss of value to the “Fountain” because the museum doesn’t own the work.

Pinoncelli urinated on “Fountain” during a 1993 exhibition in Nimes in southern France, and cut off his own finger as an expression of solidarity with Colombian-French politician Ingrid Betancourt, held hostage by leftist guerrillas in Colombia since 2002.

This tells you everything you need to know about the upside-down values of the French. If one homer vandalises a toilet, it automatically becomes worth $3.6 million, but if another lunatic homer comes along and vandalises it again, it's a crime. It's a confusing story.

On one hand you have the french displaying a urinal like a form of worship. In my opinion, it deserved to be destroyed and urinated on.

If the court really understood Dada they would have ordered the original Duchamp urinal destroyed, to be replaced by a proper English pub urinal, and publicly defecated on and sentenced Pierre Pinoncelli to spend the rest of his natural life in Belgium.

If the court really understood Dada they would have ordered the original Duchamp urinal destroyed, to be replaced by a proper English pub urinal, and publicly defecated on and sentenced Pierre Pinoncelli to spend the rest of his natural life in Belgium.

The "cakes" are deeply disturbing, Mrs. Rogers. I believe Marie Antoinette was alleged to have once said something on the subject. When it comes to classifying anything as art today it makes one long for the Wiener Sezession of Gustav Klimt and his fin de siècle elegance. We witness almost daily the deranged and obnoxious proponents of DeviantArt that come here to defend their banalities.

Even more troublesome are the New Mexico Liebrals that are recklessly endangering their citizens by exposing them to potential electrical malfunctions of these "cakes". Not to mention whom is going to want to change the batteries in these devices after 3 months.
