I'm so proud of our Baptist Govenor, Kim Reynolds, who is constantly working to put Christian values into Iowa's laws. She spearheaded an effort last year to remove books from public school libraries which discussed uncomplimentary history, racial strife and sex. Individual schools were given the responsibility of removing books that violated the law.
In today's paper is a story of the way Jesus is using the law to remove children's books from the small city of Johnson, IA, near Freehold. The administration of the Johnston school removend four books that should never have been published. Here are the books:
1.) Neither by Airlie Anderson. This book is about a creature that is not quite a bird and not quite a bunny. Talk about heresy. God made no such animal. He made males and females, man and animals. Any book suggesting uncertainty is a book for the bonfire.
2.) Indigenous America by Liam McDonald. McDonald found records about what life was like in native tribes before white men arrived. Children should not read about Indians. When we white men arrived all we found were half naked people who had never heard of Jesus. There is no need to go into who they were or anything about them. A natural for Ban-This-Book.
3.) The Founders Unmasked Jennifer Sabin. Here we have another book harmful to children. Children should be taught our founding fathers were good clean Christian men who came here to found a Christian nation. They don't need to know about bribes and using government to enrich themselves. George Washington had a whiskey business. Let's keep that out of the schools.
4.) Johnny the Walrus by Matt Walsh. Jonnny the walrus finds that being a walrus is a lot like being a trans. Can anyone come up with more sin that this?
For reason I cannot comprehend, a school administrator wants citizens in Johnston to know there is a constant review of books going on and some or all of these books could be approved. Approving them would bring God's wrath.
