A people's cooking -- at least in your self-righteous little pea-brain -- must only arise from the dirt beneath the people's feet, and if it doesn't, then the cooking and the food is not authentically a reflection of the people's tastes, culture and history!?!

I should ban you for your arrogance, but instead I'll ask you some questions:

*Is marinara sauce not authentically Italian because tomatoes come from the Americas?

*Is an Indian curry that includes potatoes not authentically Indian because potatoes come from the Americas? (I detect a pattern!)

*Are Norwegian desserts not authentically Norwegian because they include cardamon (green, not black) from South Asia?

*I don't know what you must think of the Dutch who's entire national identity is embodied in their consumption of Indonesian food.

So, I could go on, but why bother? I'll just list a few of the red-blooded American favorites that you'll find at any Landover pot-luck dinner:

Living so close to the Mexican border we see this kind of thing often. What is big news to the rest of the country is a daily occurance by these heathens. We are very careful not to eat anything cooked by someone that can't even afford yeast for their bread. It is our true belief that the reason they spice the food up so much is so that you can't tell if it's dog or cat or something worse being used.
