Re: Man Arrested for Reading the Bible!

OK, I see what's going on here. Look. We don't hate you teenagers just because you have denied the will of Jesus Christ.

We are here to help you and nurture within you the love and respect you should have for the Son of God who died upon the cross for your sins!! Amen!

What do you have to lose besides everlasting paradise? We are here to help guide you to the light. Why are you so resistant?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Re: Man Arrested for Reading the Bible!

I'm so resistant due to the massive lack of evidence for everything you believe in, apart from a glorified novel. And trust me, you won't be converting, or convincing, people by spewing out racist, homophobic hatred.

I'll say beforehand that I don't want to offend anyone (although my previous comment seems to violate this, sorry). You have your own beliefs, and that's fine. I'm not one to try to change that.

The problem with your faith, at least for me, is that it goes against my logic. The bible (IMO) isn't meant to be taken literally. It's a book of morals. I have no doubt that Jesus existed and got crucified, but I neither believe that he died for "our" sins (how do you define our? How does a sacrifice extend into the future? Supposing the human race perseveres for millions of years and undergoes evolution and augments our natural bodies and abilities with artificial additions, will we still be human? Will Jesus have died for their sins, as well? And what about the humans of the past? If he died for the sins of people who had not been born yet, is it a stretch to say that he died for the sins of those who were already dead?) nor was resurrected.

I'm not saying what you believe in is impossible (I like to consider a great many things possible, probability notwithstanding), just that it personally doesn't make sense to me and it seems awfully convoluted and inelegant. If there is indeed a creator (which I don't rule out as a possibility. Perhaps this creator is a being from a higher spatial dimension, or from a parallel universe in which the fundamental constants of nature are different, which allow for the "powers" you ascribe to God), It (not He, I don't believe a divine being would be preoccupied with something as trivial as sex) must be a terrible planner because the bible's rendition of genesis seems very messy. I imagine It would, with ultimate power over the heavens and the earth, have a more straightfoward, simpler plan in mind.

No one ever said that the road to redemption would be easy. The fact that you are here now shows that there is still hope for you. I'm praying for your soul.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

I'm testing to see if I can still post. I must say, it's very disrespectful to give me an "infraction" for simply stating my view (respectably and intelligently, I might add). At least address me personally if you have a problem with what I believe.

That wasn't personal enough? OK.. I have a problem with what you believe.

It was very childish. You didn't have to deduct "points" because I stated my view. If you have a problem with what I believe, so be it. But at least tell me why so we can have a proper, respectful, reasonable debate. Don't hide behind forum functions because you're too [whatever your motivation is/isn't] to debate with me properly.

Re: Man Arrested for Reading the Bible!

Not to mention, at no point did I imply that I'm smarter than God. If God exists, he is by default a heck of a lot more intelligent than any of us, if he created everything we see around us. But I'm not positive God does exist, although as I said, I'm completely open to the possibility. Don't treat me like an a-hole because I'm not.

Is it OK to treat you like an ass hole if you are?

May I ask how I am? I think it's safe to say that I've been very respectful of your faith in my replies. I don't personally agree with it, but I'm not saying it's wrong. I haven't done or said anything to purposely offend anyone (although it seems I've failed) and even now, as you insult me, I'm being polite.

Was not one of Jesus's principle teachings all-encompassing love and forgiveness?

I didn't call you an ass-hole, I merely asked the opposite of your statement. You're the one with the potty mouth.

You haven't really thought this through, have you? You can't un-think God. You are admitting to believing in God and at the same time denying Him!! A sinner of the worst kind!!

Potty mouth? What? I haven't uttered a single curse word.

And I am neither admitting to believing in God nor denying God's existence. I don't have any proof one way or the other, which is why I'm completely open to the possibility. This I have stated.

Great. Now that we've determined why you're here, why don't you head over to the introductions forum and introduce yourself. Tell us all about your sins and your feelings and you can expect some interesting responses.

You have not been respectful, rather you have been deliberately belligerent from your first post. This is NOT a debate forum, and even if it were, you are derailing a thread. Keep a civil tongue in your head and respect your betters or we'll have to ask you to leave. Jesus does not require that we suffer fools gladly.

If you want to stay and learn about God's Holy Word, then please proceed to the "introductions" section of this forum and tell us about yourself. I assume that you have studied the Bible throughly, since you have the gall to waltz into God's favorite forum and lecture us about Jesus.
