    Maybe I'm just sentimental, but there's something really charming about these little romantic details. I used to have a stuffed pig's head I called Ruby (it's a long story)...I miss the days when me and Ruby used to go trick-or-treating round the mosques and sin-a-gogues.
    O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.



    God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

          Now those of you who matter to Jesus remember that everyone was asking Brother Henry Smith why Mrs. Smith wasn't with him at church on Sunday and he told us that she was rushed to the hospital with complications to her 6-month-old pregnancy? (And what a devoted husband! He raced through brunch after services so he could go be at her side!)
          It turns out Mrs. Smith had a miscarriage. But there is cause for praise yet. As you're aware, the Smiths have two daughters - Constance, 9, and Joy, 5. It turns out the still-born baby was also a girl!
          Brother Henry tells me he was praying and praying that this one would finally be a boy, and God certainly works in mysterious ways! Now the Smiths have a three month head start on making that son they so desperately want, and Brother Henry says he's grateful he doesn't have to listen to even more empty-headed jabber now!
          When God shuts a door, He certainly does open a window! PRAISE!

            They lost a child. Most people with emotions or just a plain sense of human to them would feel regret. did they have any?

                                1 Corinthians 2:15
                                But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
