Yet another fascinating thread. The moon has been a significant driver in evolution. Many creatures breeding cycles are tied to it's phases (often human females menstrual cycles are tied to it) along with the tidal forces exerted upon the earth.

It is quite easy to tell the difference, actually. Prophecy comes true.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

But even if the prophet speaks true, and shews great signs and wonders, you still can't be sure that God isn't only testing you.

Scientists would have us believe that the moon is another world, a lifeless orb of dust and rock, orbiting the earth, reflecting sunlight except when the Earth's shadow falls on it. They even claim they have walked on it! These are all lies.

Oh boy, I am about to put a huge hole in your logic, the moon is most certainly a rock, and it is made out of tiny particles of glass and rock, and the moon doesn't make its own light, the sun reflect light of the moon, that makes moon phases. In 1997, NASA put a man on the moon, which you claim to be fake, and they got footage of it.. Also, stargazing isn't a sin, I've been doing astronomy for over 2 years now, and I feel fine, so, please, do me a favor and please let us observe the moon and the stars at peace, please? Thank you.

We only see one side of the moon because the moon rotates on its axis at the same rate as it orbits the earth. this is called synchronous rotation. synchronous is a real word even if you don't have the brain power to comprehend it.

the difference between what you have said here and the information provided by scientists is that the scientist have factual evidence to support what they say and you pull sections from a book that's thousands of years old. the scientists also don't say they should kill you for your views, even though they are right and you are wrong.

There are school children who have a better understanding of the universe than you do, one that is supported by math, science and logic. your views are supported by superstition.

In 1997, NASA put a man on the moon, which you claim to be fake, and they got footage of it..

Now, I am baffled. Even NASA in their Bible-opposing lewdness do not claim to have sent anyone on the Moon in 1997, nor is there any fake photographic (Daguerreotype or newer) evidence of this around. Obviously, logic did not entail fact-checking for this person. Hint: there are easily accessible documents that you can access with the help of your school's librarian. There are microfilmed newspaper clippings of the year that NASA DID claim to have reached the moon, many encyclopedias mention this if you browse the books (that are arranged in alphabetical order) for "moon". Even some of your schoolbooks on postmodern history might also mention this. So, please do a tiny bit more research and you'll be astonished!

But... (for my True Christian Siblings in Christ™): It is possible that there is a more sinister motive behind the "1997" - it could be a subliminal reference to the false Muslim-Catholic Cult, as there IS a verse 19:97 in the fictional Quran. It is the Surah Maryam 19:97:

Perhaps you've heard of the Roman Empire? They imported most of their culture from the Greeks, concentrating more on society than culture. From Julius Caesar onwards for a few years they managed to expand their sphere of influence and although he didn't ever call himself an emperor, what he achieved was generally beneficial. Economies of scale enabled some very impressive infrastructure, roads, plumbing, central heating. No trains but you can't have everything.

The Greeks were a bit older and had invented this logic you talk about. It never held anything together, their society revolving around assorted temples and the mutterings of soothsayers. Some of the temples were a springboard for something like guilds: doctors, hunters, spinners weavers and dyers, you get the idea. They imagined gods/goddesses embodying "the hunt" or "music" etc., all with no evidence, and things went along quite well with no logic involved at all. False gods however cannot produce sons capable of retroactive creation, even creation of the moon.

Colossians 1:3a, 15-17 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ ... Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

There was another stratum of thought among the Greeks however. Sometimes it's said that's where logic was invented (or perhaps codified for the first time) but the great big elephant in that particular room is what happened next. They suggested the temple dogma was false, that there were no gods and goddesses living on the magic mountain and movers & shakers like Euclid, Epicurus, Aristophanes (to name but three) whether privately or in public certainly challenged those temples. Whether by ridicule——and in theatrical tradition (well, it's a tradition now) the logicians were ridiculed too——or by reason, what you call «the thing that holds society together» was being ripped to shreds.

By importing culture, that is what the Romans imported. They did make some statues but they weren't anything to write home about. And despite every effort of the temples to amalgamate, to dump all their bling under one single heading, the whole caboodle imploded. What was being proposed in either case contradicted God.

Why does the moon not fall down? One day the stars will. They're starting to do so now. Some nights quite a few become dislodged and streak down. Now and then one will explode. All explained in The Bible. But astrology doesn't hold anything together either. What's importance is obedience. Obedience to God. Here He includes the alternative to following His word and making up new forms of "logic."

Isaiah 1:18-20 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
