it clearly doesnt mean to destroy everything
      its simply a metaphor

Were do you get a call for destruction out of Matt. 5:17-18 that you have to explain away with your heretical ideology? You're not even reading what he posted.

                      Re: Richard the lionheart

The worst thing about the "Lion Heart" is that he was papist lap-dog that kissed the Pope's ring. No doubt he had a bevy of choir boys to sedate his carnal lust and no doubt this proves his homer inclinations.

It was not until Henry VIII did you see any sense come into the English with their desire to sever any ties with the papist terror. This eventually led to KJV1611.

                          Re: Richard the lionheart

HigherLove, you imply that only the New Testament is the Word of God, and that the New Testament disavows righteous warfare.

You ask what book we read: We read the Bible. The same Bible Jesus the Christ honored. The same Bible that is the perfect and literal Word of Christ's heavenly Father.

You, sir, may spit on the Bible if you wish. You may believe God's Book is only fit for wiping your filthy arse.

But if you are actually a Christian and not a Liberal Crystal-Worshipping Teletubby, you should certainly realize that the New Testament is an extension and an expansion on the Old. It is not a repudiation of God. It is a confirmation of His fearsome nature, His thirst for vengeance, and the division of man into Saved and damned.

But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Luke 12:5

When Jesus comes again, the New Testament promises that He will torment man unbearably.

And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. Revelation 9:6

God shall punish all who deny Him horribly, and His vengeance shall be everlasting.

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Revelation 14:11

It is the easiest thing in the world for people who are not willing to face the true nature of the Lord to pretend that the hard words of Jesus and the Prophets are metaphorical.

They're not. Jesus for the most part spoke plainly. When He said that nothing in the Law would pass away until the Earth ended, he was prophesying the plain truth. There is no need to pretend that such an obvious and clear passage is metaphorical.

Unless, my friend, you love not the true God.

From the first book of the Old Testment to the last book of the New, God divides mankind into two camps: the Chosen People and the pagans; the Saved and the damned. In every instance it is given to Chosen, the Saved, to subjugate the pagans. Throughout the Bible God promises punishments of the most horrible kind to those who deny Him or who fall away from His faith.

God is not made of cotton candy, my friend. The true and living God is vengeful and jealous. Fear Him: that is Jesus' command. Fear Him.

Question: Do you deny that the Old Testament is God's Word?

Tell me, Highasakite, why exactly were the Muslims "bad guys" for preventing Christians from going to Jerusalem?

You said that their religion is equal to God's religion, Christianity. Therefore, the Muslims -- who ALSO claim Jerusalem as a holy site -- had every right in your "equal" universe to prevent Christians (whom they call "infidels") from coming into their holy site.

Or are religions only equal when YOU say? See, YOU say that Christians have the right to slaughter Muslims, even though those Muslims were doing what you worship the dead Richard for . . . fighting for their religion.

Do you consider the Old Testament the Word of God? Or do you think it is silly fiction appropriate only for asswipe?
