Jesus and I were reading this book the other day. And in the background on the TV we heard some people getting their panties in a wad about this book.

So I said to Jesus, "JC, why are these folks in such on uproar about this book?"

And Jesus says to me, "Well Chosen One, there are many that CLAIM to be of my flock and attack others who write works of fiction simply because they themselves have no imagination. Er.....they DO have an imagination. I myself created it for them. Yet they refuse to use it. Much like a silly Amish person would refuse to use my electricity."

And so I asked Jesus, "JC, what do you think will happen to such people that get all upset over a work of fiction?"

And Jesus told me, "Wide is the path to hell Chosen One, and these folks that condemn, even though in every version of the Bible I have ever had written it CLEARLY states that I get to do the judging....well my Son....they are going to Burn in HELL forever."

And so I said to Jesus, "Jesus I am so glad that we had this talk....I only wish these fake Christians could talk to you as I do."

And Jesus replied back, "They could, but their heart are hard and they do not read the Bible. Instead they make stuff up so that they can HATE other people. I created EVERYTHING. Blacks, gays, elephants, muslims, and everything else in the universe. When they attack those people they attack me. Burn in hell the will."

as both a movie critic and a spiritual wanderer, the book may be a tool of satan but i can definitley say the movie was not. if you noticed, the movie ended right before the climax, the movie diddent even end much less fully illustrate a point.

I'm sorry this thread got so horribly derailed.

A parent in my congregation recently asked me to review the Philip Pullman "His Dark Materials" trilogy, which consists of the three books this person "AmazedByYou" describes.

The entirety of the first book only shows a conflict between scientists and Catholics, and who cares about that? That's the part they made into a movie with Nicole Kidman.

During the second, and more clearly the third, you see that the book is written to encourage belief in a "multiverse" (the so-called "subtle knife" can cut between universes, and opening windows that people can move through).

The horror? The trilogy really IS about killing God!

They call Him "The Authority", and claim that when He came into existence He oppressed all the "nice" angels. So now the angels are teaming up with humans, witches, armored bears, and anything else they can find to wage war against the Kingdom of Heaven . . . and establish a so-called "Republic of Heaven", where apparently people can decide for themselves what they consider to be "sin".

It's the most terrifying horror story I've ever read, and it's aimed toward teenagers!

Keep this filth away from your children, unless you want them to go insane and start killing people. I heard that zombie face-eating guy in Florida was reading this book when he went over the edge, and that the Batman movie shooter wrote a manifesto based in large part on Pullman's ideas.

It's bad, bad stuff. I told the parent that I would keep the book for her and add it to my collection of Forbidden Literature.

Have you heard about this new movie? It is called The Golden Compass. It is a new movie targeted at children, will be released December 7, 2007.

This movie is based on the first book of a trilogy by Philip Pullman, a proud atheist who belongs to secular humanist societies. He hates C. S. Lewis's Chronicle’s of Narnia and has written a trilogy to show the other side.

Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about killing God."

The second book of the trilogy is The Subtle Knife and the third book is The Amber Spyglass. Each book gets worse and worse regarding Pullman's hatred of God.

In the final book a boy and girl are depicted representing Adam and Eve and they kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH, so they can do as they please.

In Pullman’s books, he bashes the reader over the head with his anti-religion message and there is quite a bit of not-too-subtle sexuality in his books.

The movie The Golden Compass is based on the least offensive of the three books and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

So the movie is the bait for the books which are profoundly anti-Christian and at the same time selling atheism.

The book follows the adventures of a streetwise girl who travels through multiple worlds populated by witches, armor-plated bears, and sinister ecclesiastical assassins to defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God.

The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that we get the word out to warn parents to avoid this movie.
