But "wiring" the funds is dangerous. No assurances they'll let James go And they'll probably use the money to get all hopped up on drugs and start shooting up the place.

I think we should use one of Brother DeWitt's planes to fly over there personally and do the exchange. I'll go...and I'll bet Lycia would, too. This operation is going to require top secrecy.





PS: Cancel the Rev. Osborne lunch. He can come to my place instead and I'll feed him something. He always nods off and takes a long nap after eating, anyway. I'll serve stew and dumplings or something heavy so he'll hurry up and konk out.

Miss Cookie, IRS regulations make it very difficult to withdraw an amount of cash greater than $9,000. It would take one transaction a day for nine days to get the needed funds. I do not mind making the nine trips for Mr. Dewitt. I can make one trip on Wednesday, another on Friday. Next week is out as I'll be making a trip in the truck, the following week I can go on Thursday. I do not want to look further forward that two weeks. If that is Ok, let me know.

I think you all misunderstood. I have to make nine trips to the bank, withdrawing $9K at a time. Once the funds are out of the bank and beyond the IRS's radar, we can they see about getting it out of the country.
I know a freighter leaving from NY on the 10th of March. It stops in Libya, Somalia then China sometime around May 23rd. They are friends and will ensure safe passage of the money.

Then you can pay me back $9,000 at a time. If opals, rubies, emeralds, pearls, or sapphires would make for a better exchange, I have them too.

Sister Cookie, you might have noticed that I wrote "packets of my investment grade diamonds which have been appraised at well over $170,000." These packets are sealed and stamped by the gemologists and are numbered. The appraisal bears the packet number and is accompanied by a high resolution, macro focus picture of the packet with gemstones. Their value would plummet should you open the packet. I'm not sure how you would grade them without opening the packets. I have the utmost faith in the certificates of appraisal that come with each packet.
