    Should I ignore my talents?

I posted this on the Family thread but the member Dirk told me to introduce my self here, so I'll just copypaste:

I am a 19 year old girl. I have been drawing ever since I can remember and I really have a special talent for it. I love drawing people, creating characters, creating my own real worlds and everyone praises me for my talent. I am also very smart. My parents taught me how to read when I was merely 4 and I went to school a year earlier than children normally do. I have always been top of my class. Right now I am taking a major in computer science, since I'm also really good at maths and love everything related with technology. Do you think I'm going to hell for this? Should I just drop everything that was meant for me to become and resignate myself to my position as a woman, according to the Bible? Also, am I offending God by creating beautiful art that other people enjoy?

Re: Should I ignore my talents?

By introduction I meant an introduction, I don't think you get it. But you are forgiven since you are a female.

Could you tell us more about yourself? What church do you attend?
After you told us more about yourself, we are more then willing to help

Re: Should I ignore my talents?

Thank you for your forgiveness, I would be rather lost were it not for your comprehension. It seems it is true that my female brain is limited

I think I should say this: I attend no church. I was brought up in a home where I was never imposed any kinds of beliefs. However, stumbling upon this site and lurking around in threads, I realized how I have been walking the wrong path all this time, proudly and arrogantly claiming to be a die-hard atheist. Fortunately, the truth came to me and I sincerely hope it is not too late for me to be saved from darkness...
Oh, I am also Portuguese so please dismiss any gramatical mistakes as flaws in my learning of the english language rather than a limitation caused by my femaleness

Re: Should I ignore my talents?

        Welcome!

I'm glad to hear that you're beginning to realize that you are a sinful creature.

First of all, you need to get yourself a King James Version Bible, as soon as possible, and you need to read it cover to cover.

Second, you should find yourself a fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist church to attend. Attend regularly and tithe monthly.

Also, do you live in America?
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight:

Thank you for your kind welcome! It's good to be so well received even though I am nothing but sinful, unclean trash!
I live in Portugal, I guess I should have mentioned that together with being portuguese. My bad.
I don't know whether I can find such version of the Holy Bible on paper where I live, but I surely will be able to get a digital version...

But sir! I blamed no one but myself! The languange was taught to me as well as it could be, it is my own fault for not making the best of that knowledge.

I say forget talents. Parading them is a sin.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

What is wrong with drawing? If she has a talent, she should use it. Posters need to be made (Freehold Annual Stoning Festival poster perhaps?), working on our website layout, ideas for folders to spread to the unbelievers......

Clearly, you don't get it and are using the wrong scripture.

We are here to help you learn. Learning is a good thing!

                      Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

                      Proverbs 9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

                      Proverbs 16:20-24

20He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
22Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
23The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
24Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Sorry, I clearly didn't explain properly. Drawing is fine but bragging about the talent is not. I was referencing a deadly sin which is pride. Of course we need art to as it is one of God's best gifts.

It almost seems as if you are using a catholic interpretation here. Instead you should only look at what is in the KJV1611 Holy Bible!

I assume you are referring to Proverbs 6:17 "A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,"

If what she says is the truth, this doesn't seem to me like something God would hate her for. Most Americans are very smart and very talented and I am sure God has no problems with us telling that to everyone.
