The Labourer is Worthy of his Reward

I Tim 5:17-18 “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.*For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”

The word of God faithfully preached doesn’t come cheap. I can’t abide cheapskates who don’t tithe or give when it’s needed. You get what you pay for. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. That’s why so many churches these days are stuck with liberal, wishy-washy preachers.

Those who preach shouldn’t have to struggle to make ends meet. The unsaved often think that being a pastor isn’t a proper job or that it’s an easy one, but here the Bible says that they labour in the Word. Preaching is hard work, and preachers are worthy of their reward.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Amen to that. And it is a struggle every day. I don't own a thing, and the estate that my congregation has provided me is woefully inadequate. The home theater system is nearly 2 years old, for example, and my repeated requests for an indoor pool have been ignored by the budget committee.

By the way, you spelled "labor" wrongly.
    Who Will Jesus Damn?

Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

I'm so sorry to hear of your hardships. I can see from your posts on this forum that you are a mighty man of God and perhaps one of the greatest preachers since the Apostle Paul. It's not like you've taken a vow of poverty like a Catholic priest. Perhaps you should remind your straying flock of Mal 3:8-9 — "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."

Sorry about that. I'm Australian and likely to stray into British spelling. Please pray for the Lord to remove my affliction.

Pastor Zeke, that you can still minister in an even handed way to the unsaved trash despite the deprivations you endure is an example to us all.

I wish I were more like you.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Everyone wishes they were more like me. It's nice to be famous but it's hell to be the rage.
