I don't remember if it was somewhere on this site, or on another ( or possibly both ) but some whiney person was doing the wah-wah over how mean old Bible Believing Christians were breaking little children's hearts by pointing out the fact that there fluffy puppies or whatever weren't going to go to heaven.
Lord a' Mercy!
Even a dimwitted female such as myself who should remain silent ( or possibly just stop typing and cross her fingers together in a lady-like manner ) knows that God is no animal rights activist. There are several unfavorable references to dogs in the Bible-- and we certainly all know how He feels about cats! -- and no godly person in the Bible had pets.
God used animals for sacrifice and for disparaging comparisons when rebuking sinners. That's about all He has to say on the subject, other than advising us which ones are an abomination and which ones are tasty, of course.
Sure, Jesus is the Good Shepard and all that, but shepards guard their , the sheep from wolves and such so they (the sheep ) can be shorn and/or slaughterd later to provide for the shepard's economic benefit.
The only animal that I remember any kind mention towards in the Bible is the sparrow. As Jesus pointed out, God notices even when an innocent little sparrow falls from a branch. But does He go all mushy and pick it up so it doesn't get eaten or stepped on, NO!
Really, who wants an Almighty God who gets all gooey over baby animals , anyway? There's a reason why God is a He and not a she. Burning people of all ages for eternity and ordering crack troops to "dashith little ones" agains a wall is not for wimps. Only a Great, Mighty, Manly God could make a tough call like that.
In sweetness,
Handmaiden
