I almost didn't notice Ash Wednesday today, although I did have to "let go" one of my Mehijucan housekeepers when I saw the telling smudge of soot on her (already somewhat dirty) forehead. But be warned! Lent, Mardi Gras, and lots of "fishy Friday" false Christianity is to come.

Good news, Mother G! You slept right through Mardi Gras! ("Fat Tuesday", as they call it -- acknowledging that many of them are morbidly obese -- was yesterday.)

The good news is that Easter is coming on Sunday, April 8! We get to celebrate the return of our Saviour!
