But I have to laugh --- I want to share an incident that happened a few weeks ago.

One of our neighbors is a college-age Muslim woman. As I was walking to church on Sunday morning --- my parish is two blocks from the house --- dressed in the black cassock worn over my street clothes, she passed me on the sidewalk, on her way home from early morning prayers at the local mosque.

Apparently she'd never seen cathy-lick-angli-can't-style cassocks before, and she wanted to know where I got mine.

Well, I explained what the vestments were, and she wanted to know where she could purchase one, and I asked her what she would want with it. She said she would wear it, because it is modest and covering of the female figure, and in keeping with dress-codes according to the Qur'an ---

I almost laughed at her, I couldn't believe it --- I told her she'd have to mailorder one and that I didn't know the company that makes them, and that the one I was wearing belonged to my church and was about 75 years old --- but I was picturing her down on her knees praying to Allah, wearing an anglican cassock ...

The image in my mind was a sinister one indeed, and not Godly at all, Sister Sacred!

Well, on that morning, my disquiet deepening to dread, I hurried away and up the street and slipped quickly into the alleyway behind the church --- stepping over a drunken bum sleeping it off in a pile of rags, and taking care not to trip over his filthy used syringes on the walkway ---

--- then stepped into the sacristy by way of the rear cloistered entrance, using my own key --- it had been a close call!

A reverend in the ambulatory asked kindly after my health, as I was breathless and possibly pale with the shock of it

In fact, Sister, it was only by the grace of Jesus that some twenty minutes later I managed to recover just before the start of the processional --- praise!

I just thought that it was high time that this thread get revisted, as there is no end to bizzare, blasphemous behaviors. THIS story comes from South America, where the mary worshipers keep the peasants poor and stupid.

Papists celebrate mass for dogs

MASAYA, Nicaragua (Reuters) - Hundreds of dogs, many dressed as babies or clowns, were taken to celebrate mass in this Nicaraguan town on Sunday, an annual ritual where the owners pray for their pets to be cured or avoid falling ill.

A long queue of Catholics, carrying their pets or leading them on leashes, waited their turn to pass by an image of a saint in a tiny church in this town 30 kilometres to the south of the Nicaragua capital, Managua.

The faithful thank the saint for curing their pets or ask for the dogs to be protected from illness. The town's priest always conducts a special canine mass.

"We brought him so he does not get sick," said local resident Nora Espinosa, talking about her six-month-old Basset Hound, dressed in a soccer outfit.

Locals say the tradition goes back to the colonial period after the Spanish conquest.

I would defy any mary worshiper to justify the "blessing" of animals with Scripture.
