There will never not be a time when the bible can 'prove' me wrong, there will never be a need to quote from it though. The bible is interpreted in so many different ways by so many different people, quoting from it achieves nothing.

If you say that the Bible says something, then quoting from that book can prove you wrong. You said that Jesus promoted "ideals of peace and love". The Bible is the ONLY source of information that describes Jesus. If you don't trust the Bible, then how can you make statements about what Jesus was like? The answer is YOU CAN'T.
