    Re: Cyclical Time?

    "Brother Avatar"

"........every expansion exactly like the previous. All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again............."

    er..................no.

each expansion and contraction cycle lasts millions of years.

"............there is only one thing without beginning or end and that, my friend, is God. God caused the universe's beginning and will cause it's end. Only one go through, friend, no do-overs. Better make sure you get right with God ASAP.............."

    Maybe God's time is cyclical?

Pal, there is no such thing as "millions of years." The Bible tells us that the Earth is 6,100 years old.

        Re: Cyclical Time?

Cyclical Time is illogical because there would have to be something outside of it to create it. Now, you can consider cyclical time as being a circle drawn on a piece of paper right? That circle drawing is time. But, something has to draw the circle first in order to repeat it.

Not only is it dismissed by simple logic, but I think the Hindoos and Mayans believed in it too which only furthers the incredulity of the theory.

I need to pray and read the King James Bible to find the truth, don't I?

              Just wondering...

Has anyone heard of the idea that time is cyclical with no end and no beginning....?

There is no "big bang" as such - rather a perpetual expansion of the universe to a critical point where it then contracts. The universe then reaches a critical point where it begins to expand again - in other words it gets so small that it explodes, which could be called the "big bang", in a manner of thinking.

              What are your thoughts?
It's impossible as it violates the laws of thermodynamics. The universe according to most views is open and wiill eventually reach a state of total entropy approaching absolute zero in what is often termed heat death as all movement stops.

Concurrently, we can tell the universe is expanding and that there's no real force to constrain it back. Gravity isn't really sufficent, so likely, in 10^100 years or more, the heat death prediction will come to pass.
The world itself is the will to power - and nothing else! And you yourself are the will to power - and nothing else!
