Phebe, this is well said. But did you think about your statement in terms of the Bible. It is contradictory to demonize people that read history books as fact, then turn around and take the Bible as fact.

What's demonic is atheists such as yourself taking my very sound and logical reply to the other posters argument, out of context. Is that the only way you atheists can engage in discussion? By deception and treachery?

The poster I replied to was referring to mere humans like Drake and Columbus - allegedly "great explorers". Well, it seems that the history books have this Columbus' claim to fame being getting lost on his way to the spice islands and by doing so, "discovered" America. Big Whoop! All that shows to me is the fallibility of humans compared to the perfection and might of God! God CREATED America and other lands ON PURPOSE, not by any mistake.
As such, why hold this moron Columbus in any high regard? How does he being "directionally and logistically challenged" hold any water in the supposed "fact "that as per secular history books that the earth is a sphere rather than being round and flat? All the history around Columbus shows is he got disoriented and didn't realize the God's flat earth was a big as it is! I can guarantee if he had asked God for guidance, he would not have had these stupid issues.


Here is the difference between God's Word and that of these history books people like you hold in such high regard. God's word is written in the heart of every True Christian™. You can't say that about a book on Columbus.

Gee, if you think about it, this Columbus fellow would not have even been on any boat to "sail the ocean blue" if God had not instructed Noah how to make sea-faring craft in the first place.

After reading through a rather large number of these comments, I am deeply, deeply disturbed over the intellectual state of the community here. Countless individuals have come to this thread and posted valid, physical arguments that prove the now generally-understood point that the earth is spherical, which aren't even being taken into consideration.

I suppose ignorance is bliss. You may all go on believing the Bible, which is quite a marvelous work of fiction, likely written by some creative writer who loved experimenting with psychedelic drugs. And if all of you ignorant idiots intend on going to your real heaven, then a real hell is definitely a greater and more prosperous place to be. After all, who wants to live with a bunch of intellectually-challenged idiots for eternity?

Fortunately, there are no such places to go to when we all die. What really happens is, you're a sack of dead, rotting meat; you cease to exist (except maybe in the history books, if you're famous enough). I'd push you all off the edge of the Earth myself and prevent the human gene pool from progressively sinking deeper into an intellectual abyss, but sadly our planet is round and that's not a possibility.

Now, excuse me while I return to my heathen lifestyle, wallowing in the self-imposed guilt of being "unsaved trash" while I acquire knowledge through a wide variety of books and not simply a single, now obsolete, work of fiction.

If the earth is flat, how do you account for the seasons?

doesn't say anywhere in the Bible of how seasons come to be expressed.

As the sun revolves around the earth yearly, the heat and light are not evenly distributed over the surface. The closer parts get more sunlight.

Instead, in reality we see that the north and south poles are the coldest places on Earth during the entire course of the year (and never defrosts).

Also, how do you account for night, or absence of Sun.. if the Earth was flat, the only opportunity for night is if the sun was on the opposite side of the Earth..
e.g. if the earth was a flat silver coin on a table, with us on the upward facing side... the only opportunity for night is if the sun was under the table-facing side of the coin.

Now, there's been talk of falling off the edge of the Earth, which suggests that the table-facing side of the coin...
If this were the case, then everyone on Earth would experience night and day at the same time, with little room for variation...

Tell me this is not correct.

People have asked about how day and night are compatible with a flat Earth. The problem is they believe the myth that secular science propogates which is that the Sun is somehow 75 million miles away and like 1.4 million kilometers across. As it turns out, the Sun is actually much, much smaller than the Earth and no more than 500 miles away.

So, as the sun revolves around a much larger flat Earth, only parts of the Earth are lit up. It's like this. Go out at night onto your driveway and take a flashlight. Turn it on and shine it to the ground. Walk the perimeter of your driveway. Notice how only parts of the driveway light up (day) while the rest is night? The same principle is at work here.

Really quite simple. See this diagram below? Everyone knows, the further the sunlight has to go, the cooler (or less effect) the sun beams are.
I'll leave the rest of your question for other people though I can just as easily answer it if you like. Edit: I see Rev. Osborne did just that!
