WTF is this really the earth is flat? you guys are a freaking joke. Look at a picture of earth from outer space why the hell cant u see the whole thing spread out flat? Well it aint flat thats why.. It might also be worth noting that the influence of gravity is decreased over distance: F = G*m1*m2/r^2. You notice that the force grows smaller as the distance gets larger. :3
