Japanese people aren't the only people who make globes. It was orignally invented and made in what is now Turkey.

China, Taiwan (Formosa) and Thailand are responsible for most modern day globe production, not Japanese.

I have always imagined the Earth looks a lot like a apple crumb pie :drool;. Not smooth and shiny like one of those CD things. Then on the bottom, sort of like a pizza, only instead of tomato catsup it is rivers of boiling blood surrounded by pools of melted flesh.
