Good ole quantum mechanics for ya. The thing I like the most about this is that it gives me as much power as God has doesn't it?

True but I figure, hell if your supposed God can exist anything is possible.

Hell no! Emo/Goths are pussies. You're not infering that God is a pussy are you?

Typical heathen response. Claim "laziness", as though that's a valid excuse. So tell us...how long have you been on welfare?

It's not so much my unwillingness to look more than it is that I literally don't have the time. I actually have a life outside reading the bible unlike you Christians.

Son, you know it's a sin to lie, right? Especially to the people of God's Chosen Church. So put down the chicken wings, wipe your hands, and dig into the good ol' 1611. We'll be here when you're ready.

You'll be there when I'm ready for what? To convert? Fine, the chicken wings are down and my hands are all clean. Give it your best shot.

Oh, so you've already read the KJV1611 from cover to cover? Then enlighten us with your favorite passage.

Hmmm, that was just vague enough to be utterly pointless. I hope one of your fellow God lovers can come to your aid because you've actually hurt their cause of proving God.....congratulations

Re: I want you to prove to me that god is real.

Geez...there is no book like the King James Bible. You really can't beat some of the writing.

We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.

We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us. Isaiah 59:10, 11

Now THAT is a LAMENT! Shakespeare was writing his plays at the same time that God was inspiring the 47 Scholars to write the King James Bible, and I always wonder if some of the divine inspiration kind of leaked out and got into Shakespeare as well as the Scholars.

Certainly the best of the King James Bible can stand with the best of Shakespeare as pure literature.

Of course the KJV is not mere literature, it is the perfect and divine Word of God. But if it were just literature...then it would stand pretty darned high in the pantheon of English prose.

Quite, it's just a shame that can't believe that the human mind is beautiful and eloquent enough to come up with that kind of writing on its own.

Re: I want you to prove to me that god is real.

Human inspiration -- yeah, it's an odd thing. The KJV has been criticized as being a very bad translation of the seminal Greek and Hebrew. Some modern "book-Christians" think that other translations do a better job. One of those "scholars" (burning now in Hell) wrote:

"The Authorized Version [ie, the KJV] is filled with places in which the translators rendered a Greek text derived ultimately from Erasmus's edition, which was based on a single twelfth-century manuscript that is one of the worst of the manuscripts that we now have available to us!"

But that's exactly why it must be the Divine Word: God spoke through the 47 scholars, and turned out a Book more powerful and beautiful than the "original" documents.

Oddly enough, in the evolutionary model of religion one would expect an excellent re-writing of seminal texts to win the struggle for survival over a less-accessible, less-inspiring but more historically accurate one. The re-written text would be, in essence, a successful mutation -- one which more forcefully captured the imaginations and intellects of the minds of the host society than did the old text.

                              Funny, huh?

Now, the Lord is divine, immutable, perfect, ineffable, unchanging, eternal, and has a very nice beard. So His religion is perfect and unchanging and eternal. Right? Of course! So all this stuff about the KJV being a successful mutation which changes the fundamental texts of His religion must be baloney.

I think it is probably that kind of baloney that has those bits of pimento and olive mixed into the artificial meat-substance. You know that kind? It's pretty good baloney if you are living on the cheap.

                              Praise ye the Lord!

Ya, you'd think that the lost information would be more important than poetry but I guess not. What really confuses me though, is that shouldn't God have just made the original version peotic in the first place? Then he could have saved countless translators from having to do their jobs and the College of Cardinals wouldn't have had to vote on what books to put in and which ones to exclude, not to mention preventing time relentless destruction of who knows how many accounts of Jesus' life. Oh well, I don't really like pimentos or olives so that's probably why I don't get it...
