Take a table for example, how do you know if a table still exists if you go out of a room and can no longer see it? For all you know the table could pack up and disappear out of the window, it could visit the international space station, maybe even fly to the moon. All this before returning to the exact spot an instant before you re enter the room. This of course is a pretty unlikely scenario! But one we cant rule out. It is much simpler to assume the table stays put when we are not there, it is our best fit model of 'reality'.

This is essentially what they do in science, they create best fit models of how we believe the universe actually works. The ancient Greeks were the first to build such scientific models, they suggested that the earth was a large sphere motionless and fixed at the center of the universe. But later pioneering scientists like Copernicus and Galileo found a much simpler and revolutionary model to describe the same observations. They proposed that the earth itself was spinning and orbiting the sun at the same time along with all the other planets. But neither can be said to be actually true because they, like all models are just models in our heads that best fit the reality we perseve. In fact physicists are forever creating more sophisticated models and the truth of their models, is impossible to establish. A good example of this came in the 1960's when physicists came up with the really tiny bits of matter called 'Quarks' . These Quarks were posed to be the building blocks of the sub atomic particle called a proton. The model suggested that these Quarks were held together by a force that got stronger as you tried to separate them. This model also implied that there is no way one could ever see a single isolated Quark. At first some people were skeptical, if something by its very definition can never been seen, can it be said to exist? Does it make sense to say that Quarks are real or not? In the large Hadron Collider, scientists are on the search for Quarks and other sub-atomic particles, by smashing protons together at incredible speeds, we can study the behavior of the tiniest atoms in nature. Although we have not directly observed Quarks, we have seen evidence of particle behavior predicted by the Quark model. So do Quarks exists? The answer is they exist in as far as they are a model that works. That is as far as we can go, this is called the concept of model based reality.

Reality

Most of share the common sense view of what reality is, the world around us exists interdependently from us. Its full of real things, that are really there, but science is unraveling this basic assumption. Our reality is a riot of sound, color, taste and smell all based on the many bits of information our senses are feeding our brains. But once we except that the mind is separate from the body, governed by physics yet unpredictable, reality itself begins to break down. It becomes subjective!

How can you honestly say the Earth is flat?!? Multiple gemini, apollo, and satellite images aren't enough?!? Also, why does the moon shine? Regolith, the dust that covers the moon is slightly reflective. The flag wasn't moving because of wind, it was moving because armstrong was shaking the flag to unfurl it. It had a metal rod along the top horizontal edge of the flag to keep it extended instead of just hanging in the reduced gravity. Also, the two sun images, have you not forgotten that the moon reflects sunlight?!? Science has given us answers and you refuse to believe it because it's all a hoax. I wish to make a simple correction to your statement my friend. The number of Americans who identify themselves as Christian have been steadily decreasing over the years. There was more people in the 1990s that identified as Christian, I believe closer to 85%.

That's not a correction. I said currently 78%. I said nothing about the 1990s, or that there were always 78%.

The influx of Muslims has had a negative impact on the percentage of the population which is Christian, that is true, and the removal of prayer from schools has also left children without guidance.

Even with Christianity being the majority, there is still an extremely small number that can identify them as TrueChristians that follow the bible as strictly as the forum members here.

Fortunately, most of the false Christians still vote Republican and agree with us on major policy issues, like making abortion illegal and ensuring everyone knows this is a Christian nation, especially schoolkids. They also agree with mandatory Bible readings and Christian prayer in all public schools, with a Constitutional amendment to make Christianity the official religion.

As for the "In God We Trust" on the American currency, it was not added to paper currency until 1956. The original, yet unofficial motto of the currency was E pluribus unum. The term was used on various coins since 1864, which was used in part to say that God was on the Union's side when they fought against the south. If I am not mistaken, it was originally a ploy to gain support for the north to say that God was against slavery despite that slavery was okay in the bible.
