Ha, no. but their lyrics spoke to me, and made me open my eyes to the beautiful side of life. I would have committed suicide if they wouldn't have opened that door.
So, for being a suicide-inducing band, they sure aren't good at it.

Family problems. My dad is a bit abusive. Other general things I'm not openly talking about over the internet.
No, never. They are only human, and I don't center them around everything I do. They just have a heavy influence on my life, because I look up to them. They're my saviors, but not in the way as like with Jesus.

A band is NOT responsible for an individual's actions.
By no means should any one say or think otherwise.

This girl chose to kill herself, plain and simple.
It was an irrational and impulsive act.
(Aren't teenagers all irrational and impulsive beings?)
Who should have done more to prevent it?

The girl blatantly said to her mother "I feel like killing myself."
What did her mother do?
"We'll talk about it in the morning."
How is that for brushing your child off?
I wouldn't feel loved or important either.
If I ever said that to my mom, she'd stay up and be there.
We'd talk about it and things would get fixed like rational human beings.

Also-
Emo is a fashion, not a lifestyle.
I am not an 'emo kid' attempting to defend my points of views either.
I knew plenty of 'emo's' at my school and not every single one of them cut or tried to kill themselves.
The key factor is INDIVIDUAL RESILIENCE.
(which if you don't know is your ability to handle adversity, and hardship).
You are the person who makes yourself suceptible to these so called "hidden messages" in music.

Personally, I listen to a very very wide range of music.
I have listened to and listen to My Chemical Romance and I never associated their music with harming myself or wanting to kill myself.
I am a perfectly normal functioning human being.
There are plenty of other bands that talk about murder, rape, bombing, killing, self-injury, etc. in a lot more graphic of a fashion.


Using music as a scapegoat is antiquated and is just a means of disguising who is really at fault.

And, I read this thread, and I'm very disappointed with the quality of people on this site.
-Since when do athiests worship monkies? As far as I know, there is NO monkey worship involved with athiesm. Actually, there's no worship at all if you want to get technical. Try "Darwin's Evolutionary Theory" on for size, and note that its NOT 'monkey worshipping' either.
-"The Black Parade" is a metaphor, not a statement that screams "hey worship this idea!" Poets have used metaphor for years. There are metaphors in The Bible. I think My Chemical Romance can use metaphor if they want just like every one else.
-You're throwing aroud insults like you've transcended the world of being a normal human being. Is there no love here? No respect for opposition? No tolerance for a different view point?
-Not all Catholic priests are child molesters, just certain ones that abused the power and trust that people placed in them. I'm from an Irish Catholic family, and this is deeply insulting. My priests were good, honest men who believed in and loved both God and Jesus and did NOT molest children. Nice try though.
