Frankly, I am currently living in the 'Bible Belt,' in Mississippi, where there is an astronomical number of proclaiming Christians and churches, a large denomination is the Baptist church, however, I'm not quite familiar with the Baptist idealogy..
I understand you have a poor taste for Catholocism, but I don't quite understand why.
I also understand you don't care for, 'Goths,' either.
Please, keep in mind, I'm not looking for you to 'Prove me wrong,' I just want the opinions and idealogies of the Baptist faith, as I find most of them where I live are Elitist, and only believe that Baptists are going to Heaven. Now, I'll give you some quick background information..
1. I am a practicing Catholic, converted from Non-denominational protestant church. I'm not looking for you to flame or bash the Roman Catholic Church either.
2. I am Spanish (as in Spain.)
3. I would be labled, 'Gothic,' were I to appear in a Baptist church. I wear black, 'Alternative,' fashions, No make up or anything, mind you, I am a Soldier.. But band shirts and such, yes. No tight pants either, ha..
4. I am inquiring to answer a personal question, 'If we're all Christians, then why are we so divided?"
Now, onto the questions...
1. What is the deal with the 'No dancing,' thing I hear about? Frankly it's not only tradition, but cultural to dance for a Spaniard! We're famous for it, infact.
2. Why is the Catholic church a 'Cult?' The Roman church was founded by Peter, and the Catholic Church is a time-tested entity that has survived for over a millenia. Also, the Bible was formulated by Catholic scholars, as far as the order of books, and what was included/excluded from the Bible.
3. The Goths were a group of Germanic tribesmen whom crossed Europe during the late Roman Empire, settling in Spain and western France, 'Gothic,' is a style of Architecture and imagery, why is it so evil to you all? I understand the 'darker,' imagery and a lot of the pagan things associated with it, but I've no involvement in such things. I find the black to be more solemn, conservative, and classy. I don't listen to, 'devil,' music, unless you consider all Metal/hardcore devil music.
4. Catholocism is also a tradition for Spaniards, am I wrong for being traditional? Your ancestors have probably been here a long while, and have probably been protestant the whole time. Mine have been in Spain and Puerto Rico up until recently =P
5. Why can't we, as CHRISTIANS get along? There are a huge number of denominations just on the protestant side, then you have Orthodox, Catholics, Anglicans, etc., etc., but that kind of mentality that 'Only my denomination is right,' or whatever is what is weakening Christianity!
6. Do you support Crusade against Islam? One of my main reasons for joining the Army was to fight the physical battle in the name of Christendom. The Roman Catholic Church is famous for Crusades against the infidel, but how is it viewed from you all's perspective?
Anyway, I'd appreciate some INTELLIGENT discussion, and the views and opinions of you all's faith. Again, please don't bash me for my beliefs, I am an American too.
