I'm sorry, but with what you just said, you just revealed to all observers an IQ which does not exceed your shoe size.

I happen to know a lot about wicca and wiccans, and so does WW. We have both observed over time, and from reading the books written by wiccans themselves, that they do know not acknowledge a lot. For instance, a lot of wiccans will call other occultists 'evil' simply because they follow practices which are older, more traditional, and less fluffy than wicca.

Are you one of the types who confuses witchcraft and paganism with wicca? Because they are NOT the same, nor are they alike.

Wicca is simply a religion which embraces the hippy version of jesus in a dress. Don't get started with either WW or I on the facts of wicca, child, because you'll find we'll grind you into the ground, after raking you over the coals.

Hey, hey, hey, don't talk to her like that. She didn't direct her comments to you, she was just expressing her thoughts on Wicca in general. So don't direct your nasty attitude at her. Besides, I didn't think Wiccans were allowed to be angry - too much negative energy clouding their aura and all that other jazz. First off, Rachel and I didn't read just a few books, let's get that straight, we started our exploration into Pagansim as Wiccans. It's embarrassing, but it's true. So having read more than a few books (I can't even find a number for all the books I've read on the subject, there've been so many over the years), and having practiced Wicca for a while, we know it inside and out. Probably more than most of the practicing Wiccans out there. Sh!t, the Landoverites probably know more about Wicca that Wiccans do. Now, I find Wicca to be an all right place for one to start when exploring other religions, but after a steady diet of cotton candy, one craves something more substantial. My Wiccanismly-ish-ness didn't last long, thanks be to the Gods, I eventually came out of it and moved onto something more spiritually fulfilling.

Now, you and others out there who share your beliefs don't like to face it, but the fact is that Wicca is a fluffly, watered down, feel-good, new-age craze. One which I'm hoping will pass soon. It seems to be holding on thanks to all the pre-teens, teens, mid-life crisis adults, hippies and new-agers who had too much LSD back in the 60's and 70's, and the people who could probably be happy as real Pagans if only they weren't too scared to leave their security blanket and weren't clinging to the idea that life is sunshine and rainbows for dear life. Once those people grow up and/or come back to reality, they'll find something more real.

Now, I've met some lovely Wiccans in my time, and they're nice people, but I can't help but notice how far they've buried their heads in the sand. Why they need something so fluffy and far from reality is beyond me. Anyway, my biggest beef with Wicca is mostly that it spreads a lot of misconceptions about Paganism and Witchcraft. And I hate what it's done to those religions Gardner used to create it. If the followers of the ancient religions on which Wicca is based could see how much its followers have watered-down their beliefs and practices, they would scream. The Druids were not fluffy! The Ancient Greeks and Romans were not fluffy! The Ancient Egyptians were not fluffy! Nor were their Gods! If people want to create a world where holding hands in a Circle and chanting at crystals and having their positive energy permeate the Universe makes everything better, completely blocking out the harshness of reality in their little fantasy-world, that is fine with me. Whatever. To each their own. Enjoy the fluff. But when it represents Paganism, Witchcraft, and especially my Gods as being anything other than what they really are... Then there's a problem. There's a very big problem. So that's my beef with Wicca, and I think it's pretty reasonable.

Don't try to tell us that we don't know anything about Wicca, because we do.

What WW said is quite right, missy. Once upon a time I used to be wiccan. Fortunately, I grew out of it. A lot of people do. Again, like WW said, wicca is a good starting point for those who are new to paganism, but it isn't the place to stay. There just isn't enough room to breathe, or grow. Each to their own, but wicca just wasn't/isn't for me. I tend to find the views way too narrow for my liking. Not to mention the people who think wicca to be thousands of years old? Don't even get me started on that. I have antique jewelry which is older than wicca!

Perhaps you don't and I commend you for that, however, that isn't what I experienced from every wiccan I've encountered.

Me? I guess you could call me an eclectic pagan of sorts. One who does understand my beliefs/practices, and their origins. Due to privacy and being on an online forum I won't go into great detail but the point is, I do know what I'm talking about. I have nothing against wiccans, unless they try to force on me that the wiccan way is ancient etc etc. If I hear/see one more wiccan saying that wicca is 3000 years old, I swear, I will throw something at the screen!
