Ah, we've heard the accusation many times. So, I've decided to have a look on the web, so we can compare LBC to "cults".

Here's a list from a SECULAR source, with my comments in red:


As can be plainly seen by a review of this eight-point "warning list" for destructive cults, Landover Baptist Church fits NO definition of a cult whatsoever! So all you outsiders can relax, stop suing us for "taking your children away", or stop complaining that your aged parents gave Landover "your" inheritance. (Did YOU earn it? No, I didn't think so. GOD did.)

Landover Baptist Church is NOT a cult. QED.

1: This church is totalitarian. It suspends, bans, and warns people for having an opinion against theirs AND it also seems you guys are butthurt when I speak logic and actually make sense.
2: It also seems you seem to be very strict and hate anybody who says you are stereotyping, when obviously you are stereotyping.
3: I have nothing to say about this one. Honest.
4: Well, this is sort of like you. It's not exclusive, but you urge it is the only way to live a good life. The retard to the right is you. ===>
5: Well, this is sort of like it, but you try to get any critics off the fourms instead of having a good, logical, mind-enriching debate. Instead, you hate on critics, saying things like "Go to Hell!", "Jesus Hates You!", and "hurrdurr we h8 joo".

In conclusion, about four out of eight cult characteristics fit you. You have the possibility to be a cult. You sure do act like it. Now do not get all butthurt and ban me. I want a logical debate with reliable evidence that is not from a 3,000 year book. Okay, what about the fact that if one of our pastors started preaching things that were not in the Bible, we would run him out on a rail? What about the fact that we're about the only church out there that actually encourages people to go read their own Bible from cover to cover? Since when is encouraging people to read a Bible without "special teachings" cult like activity?
