Catholicism, Wicca, or Buddhism? I've decided that my faith is probably a big muddle of the three, since:
On the Catholic side, I believe in Jesus and God, think Notre Dame cathedral is gorgeous (I've been to the one in Quebec), like the idea of saints, like candles, like flying nuns, like that Mary (a female) is important, and believe in heaven. I celebrate Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas too. I also like that a part of some Catholic beliefs is to give back to the community and to help others. I like "Blessed are the merciful" as well, it's nice, and the fact that someone at PETA is a Catholic and that jesusveg.com exists.
On the Wiccan side, I believe in a goddess, I don't really believe in Hell or Satan, like and respect nature and animals and believe that it is important to protect them, I like candles, believe that there may be something to certain forms of divination/astrology, and I believe in the elements. I also celebrate some of the Wiccan sabbats by lighting candles or thanking the elements.
On the Buddhist side, I believe in vegetarianism and to not harm other animals and people. And I like some eastern beliefs/philosophy. I've been the the world's biggest Buddha in Hong Kong, and I really liked it. I just felt really nice and peaceful there. I believe that some people are reincarnated, and that karma exists too. I like the element of compassion. I don't know if there are any Buddhist holidays, If there were, I might celebrate some of them too ~shrugs~.
What I Don't like about:
Catholicism- I don't like the Pope, or the fact that women can't become popes if they want to, and certain parts of the Bible don't really fit my beliefs. And I don't agree with that you have to belong to a Catholic church and have communion and be baptized and all to be considered a real catholic. And I only pray when I feel the need to, really, not at certain times when I'm supposed to.
Wicca-the level of devotion required, I don't have that. And some Wiccans believe that you have to belong to a coven or be initiated to be a real Wiccan. And I'm not really too into doing magick, unless it's just something involving the elements and nature, like for protection or to help plants grow. Not for selfish personal gain (love spells, money spells, curses, ect.).
Buddhism- I don't think that there is anything wrong with drinking alcohol in moderation. I don't think it's good to drink in excess and be drunk all the time though, but occasionally having a drink is OK. And sometimes things just happen, whether you deserve them or not. I also don't do meditation, or feel a need for it.
Just out of curiosity though, since all three are considered "false religions", if I were to pick just ONE of the above faiths to follow (not that I am, I like my multicultural eclectic-ness, It's what really suits me I think.), which one do you think it should be? (I can already hear you saying neither or "True Christian"...lol). I like Narnia-ism, but that isn't a religion lol.
