First of all i am going to be nothing but reasonable. I am not interested in a flame war and just want healthy discussion.
i am an empiricist, i do not believe in anything i cannot find out myself.
I believe in the big bang because the universe is expanding, this is proven by the change in colour of stars while they move, called blue shift, they all seem to be radiating from one point, which is the site of the big bang. you can find all this out with a telescope and a calculator.
i do not believe in god, because there is evil in the world. i wouldnt call myself evil, if anything i am a good person, i donate to charity, care for my parents and treat everyone with respect. but there is lots of evil in the world, and why would a benevolent god allow this? surely he is not benevolent if he allows it, and if he does not allow it but cannot do anything about it, then he is not omnipotent.
i own a copy of the satanic bible by anton stzandor lavey. i do not believe in satan, i do not condone any violent acts carried out in his name. but the author of said book says that humans should be humans, we have both compassion and evil in our nature (made in gods image?) and that by letting these run free, we bring balance to everything around us.
i am an athiest.
i am not nearly done, but would like to hear your opinions.
