That cannot be said of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). This was laid out for all to see in the event "celebrated" today, the official signing of the "Letter of Call" change of status by the Bishop of the Minneapolis Synod for a lesbian Pastor.
The ceremony today ended several years of what the Star Tribune called a "stealth status" in which the Pastor, Mary Albring, has been operating. The absence of truth in the ELCA began several years ago when Albring left a faculty position to become a Pastor of a liberal church in Minneapolis. She received a Letter of Call from the ELCA at the time, was placed on the official List of Pastors, and, all was well.
But, while Pastoring, she took on a lesbian partner. This was in violation of ELCA doctrine at the time. What happened? The ELCA, local church and Albring began a series of bureaucratic manuvers, lies really, that continued from 2003 until today.
She was granted a "Leave of Absence" from the "List of Pastors". This Leave of Absense status expired after a few years She was granted an extension.
Then, there was the position at the local church. It could not be filled by a Pastor who was on an official Leave of Absence. What do to? Declare the position "Vacant", of course. That was done.
The illegal "Pastor" Albring then continued to act out the positon of pastor at the chruch as if she really were a pastor. This went on for years. In time, demonic forces within the ELCA began steps to overtune the policy that banned men or women, gay or straight, who lived together without marriage from being pastors. Strangely, the Devil won this battle.
Today, the Devil raised two of his three fingers in a V for Victory sign. The ELCA stopped its lies. Then it did something even worse.
