Re: Pastor Pistle's Vietnam Miracle: Explain it Atheists!

Psychiatrists, psychologists, Strauss–Howe generational theoreticians, hypnotists, the extremely dubious infra-red brain helmet and even less well-known Feldenkrais paradigmatic methodology, you name it there's a crank selling it. Jesus will return soon and then there'll be no need for any of them! That's something I'm really looking forward to.

This story concerns me slightly, Mr. Mayor. I wonder if it was truly a miracle or rather a premonition or a prophecy or prerecognition, or God forbid, divination. Not that I need to explain the differences to a seasoned man of learning. I was wondering, if perhaps your hand has been marked by the psychic cross?

A little of that can be helpful now and again, as your testimony - and Pastor Pistle's blind thrusting of a blade into the darkness - teaches, but one needs to be careful not to cross into necromancy, or necro anything really.

The Pirates are Our Lords Chosen people, so I honour them, it is others that gave me the moniker "God mocking pirate"
    and who worships meatballs
It is not for you or I to question how Our Lord and Creator chooses to represent himself.

Re-reading the thread, I was reminded how prolific false doctrine has become. One such lie concerning magic abilities to see things that aren't there. Another claims that when temporarily blinded, special magic vision is available through the "third eye" and in this case (they would claim) Pastor Pistle had such an experience.

Wackos everywhere, none endorsed by Jesus, indeed He universally condemned them. Several such proposals were put forward, from psychic spaghetti to military training, adrenaline and metaphysical pirates. Perhaps the most egregious was in this exchange.

Option 2: Pistle grabbed his knife and stabbed the man.
    Let's break down Option 2:

    SIMPLER? REALLY?

PHASE ONE - Knife blades require an ore mining operation. Once the ore is obtained it needs to be reduced by various means developed over centuries. India for example produced short iron for export to places where further technologies could be applied, themselves requiring centuries to develop.

PHASE TWO - Damascus steel required atoms to be manipulated in very particular ways, sometimes electron orbitals would be involved to form molecules as compounds. Mixtures of different sized atoms to provide harder or stronger alloys is another technique with less involvement of electrons. A comparison would be a mat made from different types of beads compared with another mat made from beads all the same size, such as are sold to put on car seats.

PHASE THREE - I'm not going to calculate how many atoms, electrons, protons, neutrons, positrons and/or anti-electrons, anti-protons, neutrinos, quarks and so on are needed to be assembled into a single modern knife blade. The number will be quite high. Even a medieval knife is unbelievably complicated but let's move on to the next stage.

PHASE FOUR - The handle. I suppose knives have handles and military handles will not use the same material as a prehistoric stone club. They will be resistant to chemicals and have special friction properties, also assembled at the molecular level from quarks. This needs many (parallel) centuries of development, probably not researched by blacksmiths.

PHASE FIVE - As you can see, there are an awful lot of elements required to get this knife and that's before anyone's used it to do anything. The surface of the handle will be patterned, again using a design perfected over centuries or more likely millennia in this case going all the way to wooden and ceramic handles from pharaonic Egypt. Some would be more successful than others but nowadays computer aided design will be used, especially for high-tech military equipment.

PHASES SIX to ONE HUNDRED - For phase five to be possible, we need to examine the history of computing from the abacus to whatever device you're using now and more sophisticated (probably classified) hardware & software which altogether is very very complicated indeed.

No apology is needed for that rather long-winded overview because it's necessary for us to evaluate the bogus and deceptive Option 1:

An invisible spiritual force somehow came into Pastor Pistle's body and saved his life.

So many superfluous words shoved in to make it look more complicated than it really is.

An invisible spiritual force - of course it's invisible! Colossians 1:15

..and moving on to the next superfluous word..

    spiritual force somehow came into.

No. Not "somehow" but by the power of The Holy Spirit. There is a single element involved here and a single operating principal. In total then ONE. By a gigantic margin, and absolutely not as represented, the simplest explanation. Despising the Pastor's testimony is the same as despising God. This is just one form of deception. There are plenty of others, crystal magic, incantations, telepathy, all used to explain miracles and all despicable. Be alert!
I Thessalonians 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

I had something similar yesterday, Dr. Toole. It was cloudy but dry and I decided to take a walk. Something, I cannot say what, told me to take an umbrella. During the walk it rained. No pointy headed atheist can explain that.

And there it is. A Christian Hammer blow that crushes any atheist argument... Even backed up by science.

Have you ever heard of fallacies, violations of argumentation and discussion? I'm asking this to know if your use of them is deliberate or due to lack of education.

What you have here is a hasty generalization. You are using a limited sample (this forum probably and we DO know that us True Christians™ are not many; Matthew 7:14) and extrapolating from than unto "all Americans". I would especially appreciate if you explained in more detail how you arrived to the assessment of "lazy" regarding a country that saved the sorry assess of practically everybody during two 20th-century wars.

Of course, this is also an ad hominem, appeal to person. You fail to present any actual justification to your claims (we require Scripture), thus, you try character assassination. We thrive in character assassination.

    Matthew 5:10
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Ours in the Kingdom of Heaven. What are YOU left with?

    Yours in Christ,

    Elmer

Harsh and false Judgment friend. Pastor Pistle repented of his sins like a good Christian and Christ forgave him. Why can't you?

Also, please explain the million to one knife stab in the dark without the loving hand of our Savior Jesus Christ guiding it.

Equally famous is Pastor Pistle's story of how Jesus saved his life in Vietnam when Pastor Pistle was a Godly Marine defending America against the savage commie red hordes.

It goes like this; Pastor Pistle's unit was clearing out of village of Vietcong one night. During the battle Pastor Pistle was separated from his unit and he had just single handedly destroyed a unit of elite Vietcong sappers disguised as a "filthy yellow Mommasan and her brats" as he put it. Unfortunately he used up the last of his ammo in this engagement and was making his way back to the rest of his unit when an explosion near him lit up the night briefly illuminating an armed Vietcong soldier standing directly in front of him!

Alone, dazzled by the flash of the explosion and out of ammo Pastor Pistle was in a deadly peril. However instead of blind panic like anyone in that situation should have felt, Pastor Pistle felt a warm loving glow come over him as he felt our loving Savior Jesus' had guide Pastor Pistle's hand to his combat knife, pull it out, plunge the knife straight into the Vietcong's Karl Marx praising throat and twist it!

Pastor Pistle's vision then cleared and he found himself on top of the Vietcong, covered in the man's blood with Pistle's knife in his throat. The Vietcong soldier had been unable to bring his own assault rifle to bear on Pastor Pistle due to the close quarters! Praising Jesus Pastor Pistle got up and made his way back to safety now knowing Christ had called Pistle to be a pastor.

Pastor Pistle knife and blood covered Bible are now proudly displayed in the church vestibule next to our marble Chuck Norris statue.

Now athiests. Care to explain how Pastor Pistle made this on in a million killer knife stab in the dark without the Hand of God helping him?

    I await your reply.

Let me think. I got it. He could have reached down, pulled out his knife, and lunged forward, killing the man. Wait, what am I thinking? That's physically impossible!
