to the original point of the story there is a large possibility that this one man was in fact a perpetrator of one of the many war crimes within Vietnam, and the part about "filthy yellow Mommasan and her brats" were actual that indeed.

this can easily be supported by the factors that arise during a typical night fighting scenario, he was split from his group and alone in the dark, while in a hostile environment. its is easy enough that while in this situation he was scared out of his mind and his inner racism led him to believe that the poor Vietnamese woman and children were hostile (although there is possibility they were Vietcong as the vc were notorious for disguising as civilians during exercise's of gurila warfare)

War crimes??? Please provide some scriptural evidence that war crimes even exist? I know that God wants us to kill all men, women, children and infants of His enemies. How can it be a crime if it's God's law?
