In the book, Bell criticizes the belief that a select number of Christians will spend eternity in the bliss of heaven while everyone else is tormented forever in hell.

"This is misguided and toxic and ultimately subverts the contagious spread of Jesus' message of love, peace, forgiveness and joy that our world desperately needs to hear," he writes in the book.

If this guy thinks the Good News of Jesus Christ is a contagion, I suppose he'd like to see us all vaccinated against it!

Yes, of course someone knows it for sure. If the Bible says that something is true, then we know it for sure. That's what Bible-believing Christianity is, not that Rob Bell would know.

And yes, all people who die without Christ, no matter how "good" they were in life, will spend eternity in hell. John 3:18 says it; Christians have to believe it; that settles it.

Some people forget the powerful theological phrase, "retributive justice". It is as central to the Christian as grace before meals.

It means, simply, you do the crime, you serve the time.

I have a question for Rob Smell:

What is going to keep people from sin if there is not hell?

Don't bother to answer, Mr. Smell. Nothing. Nothing will stop people from wallowing in sin without the threat of hell hanging over their heads.
