I think I've found the absolute worst religion ever. It's called Unity. Unity followers (who are very quick to say that they are not Unitarians, since they are quite willing to slam everyone else's religion even while defending their own imbecilic views vociferously) claim to be Christians, but what they really believe is a mixture of Satanic witchcraft and new age mumbo jumbo. We need to organize to stop these anti-Christian sorcerors and con men (well, con women mostly, since men have a little more spiritual discernment and are less likely to fall for the Unity/Satanic trap) before we lose another generation of their children to the fires of Hell!
I'll get to the anti-Christian sorcers part below, but, if you don't think they're con men, then check out their page for ministers on how to ramp up contributions by teaching prosperity doctrine here; or their FAQ for ministers, where they rank Beliefs first, but Church Accounting and Minister's Finances come before their Youth and Peacemaking. Or the handy Unity Direct Debit Authorization form. They're as shameless as Scientologists when it comes to fleecing the flock.
The really insidious thing about Unity isn't that they are selling BS to their members, but rather that, like the Catholics, they claim that what they believe is all based in the Bible. When pressed, anything they don't like in the Bible they say is allegory, or metaphor, or changed from the original text by evil Christians. Of course, everything they do like is the true word of Jesus Christ. If Deepak Chopra married the Pope, their kids would be Unity freaks.
That's it, no muss, no fuss, they just rewrite the Bible to suit whatever their belief du jour happens to be! I kid you not. Consider these statements, drawn straight from the Unity website, which show that they are in no way Christians or followers of Christs teachings:
Unity: Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.
God: I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:2-3
Unity: We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our Way-Shower. In Unity, we use the term "Christ" to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression.
God: God was made manifest in the flesh. 1 Timothy 3:16 (speaking of Jesus)
Unity: We are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and therefore inherently good.
God: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Unity: Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written.
God: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Unity: When we take personal responsibility to choose life affirming thoughts, words and actions, we experience a more fulfilling and abundant life.
God: I am come to send fire on the earth Luke 12:49.
Unity: In Unity, we feel a sacred responsibility.... to make a positive difference through personal example and active service in our churches, our communities and our world.... It is imperative that our ministries and outreaches be free of discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical disability, or sexual orientation.
God: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord. 2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Unity: In our effort to reach out to all people as did our Way-Shower, Jesus Christ, we support the modification of our facilities to make them accessible to all people, regardless of physical challenges....
God: Whosoever ... hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.... a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken....
Unity: Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God....
God: If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him..... Deuteronomy 13:6-10
But here's the worst Unity doctrine of all--they believe that they can make things happen through thought alone! There's a word for that my friends, and that word is sorcery.
Unity: Unity emphasizes the creative power of thought in our life experience. We refer to this as the Law of Mind Action. When we take personal responsibility to choose life affirming thoughts, words and actions, we experience a more fulfilling and abundant life.
God: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8
Remember when dealing with Unity's minions, their witchcrafts are dangerous, but we, as Christians filled with the Spirit of God, have nothing to fear from them:
....Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Acts 13:7-11
Hey, it would be great if the world were all happieness and joy and positive thoughts, and if we could get everything we want just by wishing it were so, but the simple fact is that life is complicated, Satan's temptations abound, and truth isn't just a matter of what we want, it is a matter of what actually is, as created by God. And God's plan isn't like a menu at a Chinese restaurant, we don't get to pick one item from column A and one from column B, you accept it all like a thinking, rational adult. We need to trust in Him to chose the best path for us, and fight the vile lies of the witches and hucksters who preach Unity.
