Friend, I do not need to see another newspaper article with more of you EMOs on page 26, blood soaked sheets and one of your Geralds Ways posters in the photograph with a story about how the police found the cold body due to the stench, death having occurred just hours before. Typically, a notebook is found full of illiterate scrawl (much like the EMOs above wrote) regarding how no one understands them or loves them and 'the music made them die'. Like bad elevator music, we have all heard it before.

Oh friends, I am just so shaken deep in my spirit! I have learned that one of my children has been cutting herself. Yes, cutting herself. Like a side of beef. And why? Because she has been converted to the EMO Cult and now follows this ritual because she thinks it will bring her salvation from suffering. Or something. It doesn't make any sense. Clearly Satan is fighting for her soul.

I found out that a friend of hers gave her an old i.pod (a musical devise to listen to music without others knowing because the sound goes directly into the ear - I learned this is one of Satan's favorite tools). On this i.pod one band was featured more than any other: Black Veil Brides.

Being a good mother and diligent home educator, I did some internet research on this band. I spent at least three hours so now I know everything there is to know. This is what I can tell you:

This band is a leader in the EMO Religion. They are like the High Priests, but more than just High Priests, as they command an Army.






This Army's sole purpose is to turn people away from the Saving Grace of Jesus. The EMO theme is that everyone needs to DIE.
I read that even the South Park cartoon blamed them for all the suicidal girls and EMO problems in this country.


Their music is all about hating life, cutting, suicide, being depressed, wearing rebellious hair in the face,
skinny jeans and black clothing. Also pornography:

I pray that any parents who read this will take my words to heart and know the truth that is in MY heart.

PARENTS. As a Christian teenager, I have been through depression during a dark time in my life when I wasn't listening to God. I have cut before, and thankfully I was scared out of it by a friend who knew and threatened to tell my parents. I have wanted to die more than anything else in the entire world before. I have been too depressed to eat before and too depressed to get out of bed before. I have been too depressed to do anything but cry.

Depressed people want help, even if they don't seem like it! They want to be saved! They need it! They need help! If you punish your kid for cutting, being depressed, etc., do you know what you could do? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU COULD DO?

Listen to me. YOU COULD SEAL THE DEATH OF YOUR CHILD.

Did you read that? YOUR CHILD could take the final step and COMMIT SUICIDE. YOUR CHILD could TAKE THEIR OWN LIFE because YOU did not handle the situation with the careful love and tenderness which it requires. You don't know, you honestly don't know how close to the edge they may be.

Depression, sadness, self-harm, etc. is a terrible thing running rampant in the world. It's not about music. In most cases it's not about wearing black clothes or having tattoos or being "emo" or "goth". (being in a cult, yes, but that is something different than emo teenagers, let me tell you from experience)

It's about depression, sadness, loneliness, cutting, no one who knows or understands or cares.

Parents! You can care! You can be absolute love to your children who are hurting! Even if you feel you have been the best parents, in many cases your parenting has little bearing on things like depression in a teen. Depression is an overpowering thing that CANNOT be fixed by either punishment or medication. Only Jesus. Only Jesus and love, parents, but you can't make your child submit to God. You can't make anyone submit to God. And don't you dare try because I swear to you, I swear, you will succeed only in pushing them away from God and away from you and further to the edge.

Sometimes kids need to know they can talk to their parents and confide in them and not get killed over it. I know- I'm one of those kids. I alienated my parents because if I were to open up and tell them things they would have jumped down my throat and locked me in my room until I turned 18.

And do you know what? Nobody was able to force me to submit to God. I had to do it. It had to be MY choice, MY doing. It has to be your child's doing and YOU CANNOT FORCE THEM.

Parents, you are the ones keeping your kids from talking to you. You may even be the ones causing your children to resent God.

Now, parents, I'm telling you this as a Christian (baptist, to be specific) daughter of a pastor who has been called into the ministry. I know God is calling me to help broken, depressed, lonely, hurting, cutting, suicidal people. He's burdened my heart for them.

And do you know how He has called me into the ministry to help these hurting people? Music.

Music. Rock music, to be specific. God is calling me to be in a rock band to help his broken people. That means crazy hair and wearing black clothes and screaming and loud music and all that.

The most amazing testimony I have ever heard is that of the lead singer of a metal band. Her name is Lacey Sturm. Please look up her testimony on youtube and watch it.

I'm not saying Black Veil Brides is good for your kids. Katy Perry isn't good for your kids either, but that has nothing to do with being emo.

But Black Veil Brides on an ipod (ipods are not a tool of satan, guys) is not the problem, and buckling down in your parenting by not letting a child who wants to listen to them listen to them, is not going to fix it. You're going to upset them and make them angry and alienate you. And don't say "big deal if my kid is mad at me, they'll get over it". NO. They will NOT. Teenagers are mysterious creatures and hey, parents, you DON'T understand them if you're still trying to force them to do what you want. Teenagers can hold a grudge like there's no tomorrow. And they and you stand to lose so much.

So parents, please, be careful with your children. Don't take away their ipods and their music, be supportive. What children really want is for you to love them. Find a common ground. If they want to wear black clothes and be emo, fine. Be supportive, love them, care about them, let them feel like they can talk to you. They want to trust you but you don't make it easy. They want to love you but you shoot down everything they love.

Honestly, many bands like Black Veil Brides actually don't promote self-harm and suicide, they sing about it but in a way that's against it. Knives and Pens, for example is clearly talking about a struggle to do what's right and possibly self-harm and suicide (although that seems more like a metaphor to me) but throughout the song it says "one final fight for this night" which is saying don't give up. And I believe the lead singer is actually an atheist, so that's not Christian or satanic.

Personally I am not a fan of Black Veil Brides. If you're still set on keeping your BVB-obsessed teens from listening to them, at least give them a substitute, like Christian rock bands. Skillet, Flyleaf, Red, Thousand Foot Krutch, Disciple, We As Human, Nine Lashes, etc.

Rock music is not satanic and it's time for you to come to grips with that. I've heard all the arguments, ALL of them. And they pale in comparison to the testimonies I've heard of people who were stopped from suicide by hearing a rock song. And I've heard plenty of satanic things in slow, easy music.

Granted, some rock songs are bad, as even some Christians are bad. The important thing is how you are handling it. Bad things are everywhere and you can't keep them all out by force. It's so much more important that you build a strong bond of trust and love with your children, and handle their rough times gently with love and concern and care. Just because you live in the house with them doesn't mean you are easy to talk to.

Try to be relatable parents. Try to accept what they want to do (so long as it isn't something truly sinful like lying, drugs, getting drunk, stealing, sex, etc.). What does it really hurt for them to wear black? Nothing, and that's not the problem.

A band like Black Veil Brides may be a symbol of hope to them, or simply something cool to cling to (you have no idea how much teenagers value "cool" things) or just something unique, something different.

You know what they don't value? Their uncool parents' lectures. Another reason you need to gain your child's trust is so that they will listen to you. If you don't have their trust I guarantee they are not listening to you. A supportive, loving parent is at least a slightly cooler parent. A parent that lets them listen to their favorite band is a slightly cooler parent. Then, when you are a cool, trusted parent showing your love, you can make a much better case to them about being careful of what they listen to and associate with and help steer them on the right path. Yes, steer them on the right path, not drag them kicking and screaming to it.

And parents, I know this is probably hard for you to hear, but as much as possible try to word your demands as suggestions. It's easier to take a suggestion than a demand. Demands stir up anger and bitterness. I'm speaking from experience. And above all, don't yell at your kids. Really, don't yell at them. Pray for God to give you the self-control not to yell and argue. Nobody likes fighting, but somebody has to be the one to make the first move. Be the one who makes the first move.

Oh Lord, I don't think I can handle the drama queen act today. Please Jesus, give me the patience to deal with insolent children who think they are adults and may be near an age for which they can be trusted to vote and defend our nation, but are unmarried and without children and so under the authority of a father to whom they are not listening. I just lift up this young fellow, Jesus, and pray You would enter his young, foolish heart and impress upon him the value of obedience unto his father because that's the way in which You created this world (Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:20). My job is to raise them to fear and obey the LORD, for that is their sole duty in this life (Ecclesiastes 12:13). My job is to raise them to know the value of submitting unto the authority over them, be it a father, husband, or minister, and most certainly the LORD (who doesn't care how we feel, remember?). If I train them up right when they are young, Jesus promises me they will not stray from from their duty (Proverbs 22:6). That is my job, and I would give them every tool available to find eternal Salvation and be loathed in the process. They wouldn't loathe me forever, for once they accept Christ, they will become new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17), and because Jesus loves True Christians™ like me (1 John 4:19), they will too (1 Corinthians 6:19 ). And if they don't choose Salvation, their names will not be in the Book of Life (Revelation 21:27), they will burn in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15), and I will not care, as I will be miraculously so happy in Heaven that I shall sit with my Redeemer and laugh at those who made stupid choices on earth (Psalm 2:4). Now who's the fool?

People think i am "trolling", but i really am not. I dress up this way not because i want to, but because i use it as a disguise to infiltrate the goth culture. And what i have observed so far is that, most of them do use drugs, and advocate for premarital sexual activity. You should not fear that they have an "army" that could destroy christian faith. They simply are not strong enough, their sinful lives are no match for a wholesome god fearing christian with high moral values. Some of you might think that i am goth, but to prove it, here is a picture of me and a friend having family oriented fun, with no indication of sinful activity. Christianity will remain as the truest faith, and no one can change that. I would like to hear thoughts and experiences on how you have dealt with emo "culture".

Black Veil Brides! My ultimate favourite band. Andy Sixx ( Andy Biersack ) is the lead singer and he is a beautiful, incredible singer. He doesn't promote suicide or cutting. He sings for the complete opposite and begs us to stop selfharming. I was a cutter and their music healed me. The song they sang 'saviour' saved my life. They always beg us to stop. They are amazing. Honestly, they are not the reason she cuts. You should seriously look into what's going on in Her head but I guarantee it is not the music.
