They will run out of food and in their starving desperation, eat their own children. It is not a law, it is promised divine retribution yet to come.

Whereas the passage dealing with rape is explained as a law that people have to carry out. In fact, it is one of the laws we have to keep so that we DON'T get punished by God in this, and other horrific ways.
Rape is not an acceptable act, no matter what one passage may say about it. It hypocritical in every context. It ultimately goes against the bibles versus upon marriage.

The Ephesians passage is especially profound in reference to a successful biblical marriage. "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior" (Ephesians 5:22-23). "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" (Ephesians 5:25). "In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church” (Ephesians 5:28-29). “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh” (Ephesians 5:31).

Jesus did not rape women. In your almighty and blessed opinion how can you defend the actions of this man. Your out of your mind.

Young lady, do you realize that plagiarism is a federal offense? http://www.gotquestions.org/marriage-bible.html Please cite the people you steal from, next time.

None of those versus say anything about rape. On the contrary, the first one clearly tells wives to submit to their husbands, and the last one tells us that when two people have sex, they have to get married. And none of them say IGNORE what was plainly written in another part of the Bible.

Besides, nobody here is saying rape is right. It's very wrong. We are simply saying that if it is committed, the proper actions must be taken to ensure that the rape victim gets taken care of the rest of her life by the man who ruined her.

No one here is defending rape or saying it's moral. No one here claimed that Jesus raped women or condoned it. What your thick head fails to realize is that God deems that a man who rapes a woman must marry her. Marriage is both a punishment (for the rapist) and a reward for the woman (so she is not spoiled).

Here's some food for thought: If we made Biblical law secular law, and that men who raped women in this country had to marry them...wouldn't you expect a sharp decline in the rape statistics? A rapist will think "Gee, if I rape this woman, I'll have to marry her. Forget that!" and just walk away. This law prevents rape from happening!

Why do you think men should be able to rape as many women as they want and not have to marry them? Likewise, why would you rather have a raped woman remain single and end up marrying up another man, which makes her "damaged goods"? And why in the heck would you want to keep the number of rapes up each year instead of having them drop???

Sounds like you are the one who is defending rape.

Re: What can you do if your daughter refuses to marry her rapist?

Is this seriously an issue for you? Let me clear something up for you: Rape is wrong. Period. End of story. The Bible was written hundreds and hundreds of years ago, and unfortunately it is a bit outdated. I'm not saying that concepts of morality still cannot apply today, but merely that the Bible's stance on issues need retooling. Do you stone your children when the misbehave? The Bible encourages you to!
The Bible is full of wonderful stories that aim to instill an sense of morality, but now it is now being used by a few outliers to prop up racism, misogyny, and homophobia.
This poor girl was subjected to one of the most emotionally damaging crimes a person could commit. You should be helping her through this harrowing point in her life, not supporting the criminal.

Oh the enlightenment you have just bestowed upon me is deafening! I can hear the choir of angels now, for you and your undying wisdom have showed me the impeccable truth! Someone who is married can never and would never rape another girl! the punishment of marriage oh my how horrific. Im sure its true punishment for the rapist, for he will have the freedom to have her on a whim, where she will have no choice in the matter. Clearly she had no desire to be with this man as it is, but certainly marriage is the right course of action. How rewarding it will be for her to marry the man that as you so aptly put it, ruined her life. Damaged goods is a stupid phrase to describe her. She is distraught that ignorant slaves such as yourselves are working against her wishes to force her to marry. That will make her damaged goods. She needs to go to the police and have this man incarcerated, or perhaps deemed a which so he can be burned at the stake. Hopefully you will be soon to follow. Praise Allah

I agree. The Bible agrees. So why are we arguing?

The Bible was written hundreds and hundreds of years ago, and unfortunately it is a bit outdated. I'm not saying that concepts of morality still cannot apply today, but merely that the Bible's stance on issues need retooling.
If the Bible is the Word of God and is perfect, why would it need to be changing. This is suggesting God didn't get it right. But, we know the Bible is pure and never-changing and neither is God.

Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good, his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

                All generations, including ours!

Luke 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

This is Jesus speaking here and He says that the Law is perfect. Jesus would approve of a rapist marrying his victim.

Do you stone your children when the misbehave? The Bible encourages you to!
Of course not. The Bible also commands us to obey secular law and as of now it is illegal to stone your children for misbehaving. (See Romans 13)

The Bible is full of wonderful stories that aim to instill an sense of morality, but now it is now being used by a few outliers to prop up racism, misogyny, and homophobia.

No, it's just that God has spoken and what He said is misconstrued by you as racist, misogynistic, and homophobic. However, it is your loss because you will be damned to Hell unless you repent and accept Christ as your savior.

How is being married to someone that assaulted you a reward? If this man was forced to marry this women he would hate her and take out his anger on her constantly. By forcing this women to marry her assailant you are condemning her to relive the crime for the rest of her life.

Ok, now I get that this is all a joke. You can't seriously believe that "god" wrote the bible. A book never descended from the sky and landed in some scholar's lap. It is a book written by man just as is the Koran. "God" didn't get it wrong, men got it wrong. The Bible may be made up of messages and stories that were inspired by "god", but men are capable of failing or misinterpreting something.

All of you people are sick! A girl is raped and yet she should marry this man because the bible says so? BULL! Not one of you people knows what God thinks or even feels about the matter, not one. And furthermore, the bible is written by man, you cannot simply say this is Gods word. Prove it. You cant. What makes any of you so sure on the opinions of God? A girl being raped is evil and by marrying this said rapist would be making what he did justified. Jim Osborne says this marriage would be a punishment for the rapist? How so? How in the world could this be a punishment for him? He wanted to rape this girl and now if he marrys her he will be able to do as he pleases whenever he wants. Your a sick individual. You sell "I heart my niglet" T-shirts you racist biget. Do something! You have just recieved the word!

                            Look, Mr Osborne,
Excuse me when I say you keep your religion and I'll keep mine. You must be more attuned to God's presence than I am because I can tell you I just do not perceive His presence. I can't help it; it's just the way it is. I'm sure millions of other people around the world can tell you the exact same thing. The Muslims have Allah, the Buddhist have Buddha, the ancient Greeks had several.
Who is to say that yours is the right one? A book? Besides, the Bible has been revised dozens of times (by man). How do you know you're reading God's will, not some revisionist back in the 1400's?
Thankfully our country is not a theocracy and our laws will throw that rapist in jail for quite a long time.

The bible was not inked by the lords hand and you can sit and argue about it all you want. However, while you do that, you will never be able to prove it. Never ever ever. How do you know what the bible says is what God actually intended? Please tell me how you know all that? Does God actually speak to personally? You have just recieved the word!
