      All you do is claim scriputre, scripture, scripture. Can you not think on your own or do you need scripture to tell you what to do constantly. You see, God made us intelligent for a reason. If God did not want you to do anything other than read scripture He would not have given you a brain, however I am afraid to see that His work has gone without reward.

        God gave us His Holy Word for a reason; So we would have a clear and specific reference to ensure we are following His Divine Will. God does not want us to use our imagination when it comes to being a Christian. It's all or nothing, pal.

        Matthew 12:30:
        He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

        Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

          I will pass thank you. You are a sick twisted person. You hide behind God, and the Bible and Religion, throwing scripture around to mask your inner hate. You are a hateful person, who attempts, (stupidly I might add) to do 'good' with religion, but your version of 'good' is harming children, and defending hateful acts. Well, you may think that thats how God works, but its not. I just hope that enough people realize your cult for what it is. And believe me, just because your not preaching the Second Coming, or making people drink kool aide doesnt mean your not right up there with the rest of them. All I know is that I will live my life as I think God sees fit, and I will know that no matter what I do, I will never be like any of the hateful, evil people who are believers in what you deem as religion. What you do is not religion my friend. Its hate. Pure, and simple hate. I do pity you though, I pity your lack of a heart. I pity your blindness when it comes to the Lord, and most of all I pity your lack of compassion, for without compassion we are nothing more than animals.

                  I'd like to share one of my favorite stories from the Bible with you. It's one we often use as our Sunday Bible School lesson for the True Christian(tm) children who attend Landover Baptist.

                  Under God's direction, Moses' army defeats the Midianites. They kill all the adult males, but take the women and children captive. When Moses learns that they left some live, he angrily says: "Have you saved all the women alive? Kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." So they went back and did as Moses (and presumably God) instructed, killing everyone except for the virgins. In this way they got 32,000 virgins --captive girl children virgins! ---- Numbers 31:1-54

                    But which of these refer to the murder of young children?

                    Mark 10:13-16, People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

                      The OP is just sick. Those parents KILLED their children and your praising them, saying they were merely "disciplining" them.

                      Oh, and one more thing...

                      America was never formed on Christian values. Get that into your thick skulls.

                        No, it's the fact that they're going after the Pearls for something somebody else did. The couple took a book out of context and an accident ensued. I don't know, maybe their children cursed them.

                          I have several questions after looking through this forum, but my biggest problem is your definition of discipline.
                          Discipline, by definition, is not punishment. It comes from the greek root disciplinaire, which means "to teach".
                          Children do not learn by what they are TOLD, but by what they are SHOWN. They learn values and beliefs from actions that they can observe,
                          What then, are you teaching a child by striking them?
                          The child (who, as I said before draws lessons from actions) will only learn that you use force and violence to solve problems and disagreements.
                          So, if your goal is teach violence, particularly violence against someone smaller, weaker, than yourself, keep on hitting your kids.
                          If your goal is to raise a well-rounded and loving Chrisitan, consider HOW kids learn, and WHAT hitting TEACHES.
                          I understand that the Lord's Holy Word is everything to you, but if the Lord commands discipline, than please do what he commands and TEACH your children right from wrong...

                            Proverbs 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

                            The Bible proscribes death for sassy children who won't listen.

                            Leviticus 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

                            Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
                            And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

                              First, phrases like "liberal mumbo jumbo" are useless in an intelligent argument. What does "liberal mumbo jumbo" mean? It means that you do not have a logically sound argument, so you have to find something to use in place of one.
                              My view on discipline is unrelated to my political stance.

                              The bible presents a lot of interesting ideas that I can't understand.

                              Deuteronomy 25:11-12
                              If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.

                              Deuteronomy 23:1
                              No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

                              Genesis 38:8-10

                              I just have to ask a couple more questions...Do you guys (members of your church) follow all of the above suggestions as well?

                              I am not here to bash your religious beliefs. I am glad you have a strong faith and respect your belief system in general.

                              I do not, however, support and will not tolerate to see, hear, or read anything about children being hurt.

                              I will pray for the greater good for all of you, especially the children.

                                I found your signature ironic. I had to point out who a few of those passages refer to.


                                “nor ABUSERS of themselves with mankind,” 1 Corinthians 6:9
                                “unmerciful” Romans 1:31
                                “full of envy, murder, DEBATE” Romans 1:29
                                “inventors of evil things” Romans 1:30…I know this is a stretch, but whoever came up with the evil idea of using the bible as an excuse to hurt, and even kill children would probably qualify.
                                “nor revilers” 1 Corinthians 6:10
