Praise for Landover, my lazy wife now works

It’s that time of year again, when my wife has to go and plough the bottom field in preparation for the planting. Last night she whined at me for insisting that she use the hand plough. This was used by my mother and passed on to me by my father. See like representation below.

She stated that as she is now 26 years old and not as fit as she used to be so perhaps we could invest in a modern horse drawn plough. I was aghast, I said to her “Pauline you only have 80 acres to plough, why would we waste money on a horse drawn contraption”. I spared her the rod and I pointed out that God looks favourably on labour and said to her quoting, Ecclesiastes 9:10. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. For in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom and “If any would not work, neither should he eat”. II Thessalonians 3:10

It goes to show that by spreading the word of God, even the laziest of spouse will re-think their slothful, satanic inspired thoughts.

Now I am not an unreasonable man so instead of telling her to have it completed by this Friday, I’ll give her until Saturday. That way she can get stuck straight into the lambing season when my prize ewes are set to bring forth a bounty from the lord.

She again thanked me for my wise words and insight. Words and insight I would not have had the courage or gumption to utter, had I not turned my back on Romanism and set myself on the true path to salvation.

She's not fit at 26? I'm a little disappointed in her. Yes the hard work will do her good.

Not fit at 26!!??? I think photos would help us judge whether she be fit or otherwise, my Hibernian cousin. We can usually tell if she's bluffing or if she's really fit.

Either way it's irrlevant. She's just got to do it anyway.

Rattle some beads in her ear and if sh'es really saved she'll run like Tim McInerney's goat when the Bishop came to call.

Typical drunken mick, stays at the pub getting pissed while his wife works like a dog.

Hmm, I am curious about the Biblical authority of a woman doing such work.

I am looking at Titus 2:5 wherein it says "To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

The first half states that they should be keepers at the home. Does this mean she should literally be inside the house building when doing her work? 80 acres away seems quite a bit far off from the home in my opinion (but I await the true opinion of a True Christian™ member here). However, the latter half of the passage says that they should be obedient to their husbands; so does this require her to do the work, even if it is considered outside the home?

My assumption here is that either it is allowed for her to do this work as it is considered still a part of keeping the home, OR she is not to do that but must since her husband ordered her to--however he would not be considered following God's word and therefore a True Christian™.

I'm not trying to make any assertions here, I am curious. Thank you.

Read Proverbs 31 it describes a "virtuous woman"
            • The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her
            • She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands
            • she bringeth her food from afar
            • She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household
            • with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard
            • She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms
            • all her household are clothed with scarlet
            • her clothing is silk and purple
            • She maketh fine linen, and selleth it
            • Strength and honour are her clothing

I basically see the "household" as any day to day chores that are involved on the property or have to deal with children, pets, livestock, or produce.

Edited to add, my "household" includes running a kennel of protection dogs, home schooling the children, trialing dogs, cooking, cleaning, and in the spring we'll be getting a hog and we're currently looking for a couple of horses.

                Such profanity!

I do my fair share around the Farm. I milk the cows every morning, feed them and other livestock. Check the chicken coup and gather the fresh eggs which we sell to passing trade. Then at lunch on Friday time I head to the Pub market and bid on the Heifers.

I also bolt the gates at night and it'll soon be sheep dipping time, right after the lambing is done.
