I love the old Victorian fashions, along with the medival and romantic fashions. They're beautiful. I also love the aesthetic, architecture, and literature gothic has offered.

Outside the current vampire cult, historically Gothic is an architectural style. Most every thing else you have mentioned is called human history. Put it this way; if you think "Victorian Fashions" is Gothic, do you consider the 1964 move "Zulu" a Goth movie? The clothing and events depicted happened at the height of the Victorian era.

My friend and I are goth, and we are two of the most loved people in the community, and unlike the "preppy" people, we don't have piercings in our face to look "tough". No, we have actual strength and athleticism(sp?) to do that. We also have high grades and achievements, and people respect us. We are also much better off for the future, as psycology(sp?) shows that the "gothic" youths are more intelligent than regular youth. We don't cake our faces in fake tan, rather we leave it natural and pale, lots of sunblock in the summer... Think of it this way, we won't look like saddlebags with eyes later in life.
If anything is untrue, it is the start of the thread itself. You shouldn't believe everything the media tells you.

That set aside, please try to actually interact with these people yourself without the ignorance and judgement, and you will see that they are no different than you.
Maybe they're a bit less ignorant and more tolerant and loving, but that's probably the only difference besides their appearance.

I (like many other goths) get straight A's and my bite can back up my bark.
And I've gotten quite the positive comments and recognitions. (In real life, might I add. The computer is just a bonus.)
