Let's start this off by saying I don't consider myself an atheist; I just believe Christianity is the truth. There's no way in hell we as humans will ever figure out this world came to be.

First off, I'm supposed these ridiculous stories as complete truth. Noah lived to 950, built an arc, etc. How in the world is shellfish evil? Someone tell me, and I better not get a because it's God's word answer. There's some ridiculous stories in the bible. No one comes back from the dead. No one turns water into wine. No, jsut because some guys wrote a book, it does not make it true.

Why was God so active in the past yet doesn't seem to be active here in the present?

Also, Christianity is based off another religion

What makes these things so ridiculous? Especially compared with some of the odd cuckoo theories of "modern science"? Quantum physics, string theory, M theory, etc.

And even if you consider the Bible somewhat ridiculous in its claims, who is to say that nature of reality is not ultimately ridiculous?

Who says he is not? I think you mean why wasn't he as physically visible as before? That was up until the time of Christ. Jesus Christ came on earth so that we may have eternal life. After Christ's death and resurrection it was up to Christians to keep their end of the bargain.

I don't see how you can look at the wars and diseases and natural disasters and not see God's hand in it.

This is always a specious claim. Yes the Mithra cult did have some things in common with Christianity, but for the most part they were completely seperate belief systems. For example, Mithras was said to be born as an adult from solid rock, Mithras killed a sacred bull, he wore a phrygian cap, there were actual ranks (like in Scientology) in the cult, their places of worship were caves (intentionally), etc.

You can pick any two religions at random and compare them and find things in common. Jews are not allowed to eat pork...Muslims are not allowed to eat pork.

There is no evidence that Christianity arose out of the Mithra cult.

Come on! Ten+ dimensions? Entanglement in physics? Schroedinger's cat? Even the top scientists will admit these theories are nuts.

1. Dinosaurs = Dragons. They were written about in the Bible.
2. Earth was formed 6000 years ago. Who are you going to trust...God, who was around when it was made? Or some scientist who wasn't even alive back then?
