But, shouldn't this be taken metaphorically? I mean, really. White means pure and untainted. For all you know, that "white" could be meaning the soul. a pure soul. If they meant white skin, would they not have stated that? I'm sure that there were different words back then for calling someone white skinned then just simply white. White can mean many, many things.
