There is much news, recently, about Jenny Sanford's new book, her book tour and her pending lucrative evangelical tour.
Who is Jenny Sanford? She is the soon-to-be-exwife of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. Gov. Sanford was much in the news with the disappearance on a "hiking trip". We then found out he was with a South American looker.
So, Jenny Saford wrote, "Staying True", in which she relates the strong Chriatian influence in trying a stay with her straying hubby. Now, let's do what Landover Baptist is know for, an objective review of the relationship and an application of Biblical principles.
To begin with, you have to say Governor Sanford seems like an odd duck. When not quoting Bible versus, he tried to negotiate their marriage vows to leave out the "being faithful" part. He returned to the store a piece of jewerly he had given her because he thought it too expensive.
But, dear Jenny gives herself a Biblical pass most of the time. She needs to apply the whole Book, not just the parts that reflect well on herself. To begin with, she had a very successful career in an industry that ignores one of the Bible's most basic sins, usury. [Isaiah 24:2-3 "...as the taker of usury, so with the giver to him. (3) the land whall be utterly emptied...for the Lord as spoken His word."] She was an investment banker. If she wants to write a book about living life in God's way, hey, start here.
Then, there is the whole thing about telling her marriage secrets in a book. God does not approve. He is the judge, not us nosey book readers. [Romans 2:26 "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."]
I'd suggest to Jenny Sanford, write another book. This time, get it right.
