Ok, so you hear voices AND have a personal relationship with Jesus?
    Tell him I said "hi".

There is no obligation to tithe, and the Landover practice of ranking your parishioners according to the level of giving is thoroughly anti-scriptural and contrary to the universal priesthood of all believers.
You really like annoying the Lord. If you do not give how is the church able to do the work of the Lord.

Of course you do not have to Tithe. You do not have to go to Heaven either. You can go to Hell if you want. It is a little gift from God called Free Will.
Jesus died on the cross for us. It took three days before he could rise from the dead. Can you imagne how painful that must of been? I therefore use similar logic when giving back to Christ. I give at least three days before tax earnings. It is the least anyone who actually cares can do.

The Lord would not be pleased with gay relationships. You are just twisting things around to suit yourself.

I'm still waiting for an explanation as to how you know that "Jesus" tells you all the right things, while lots of other people hear "Jesus" telling them the exact opposite. Do you agree with me that any "Jesus" that consistently contradicts both itself and Scripture is not Jesus at all?

Besides, it's ironic that you're quoting the Bible to persuade us to ignore the Bible. If the parts that you don't like aren't Divinely inspired and preserved, how do you know that that verse is?

Throughout the ages, Baptists have been known by different names, our doctrines are from the time of Christ and though at times our beliefs have been controversial, even scorned from within our own denomination, there have always been Baptists who adhere to the sound teaching of God's Word.

Friend, I was really saddened when I read this. I don't exactly agree with most of what the people on here say, but saying they don't know Jesus is a very shocking thing to me! Why do you assume you "know" Jesus better, exactly? You make good points, but your horrible holier-than-thou attitude is impossible for me to deal with There is very little love or humility in your posts, for all you claim to be practicing it. At least the Landover people are honest about being judgmental towards sinners.

These people are no less children of God than you are sir. To say that they're personal experiences with Jesus are not as valid as your because you don't personally agree with them, I just don't know how to handle that. You should remember Jesus' words more!

Matthew 23: 13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Why are you shutting heaven's gate to these people because they disagree with you? Don't you know everyone will be saved?

    I'll pray for you.

Yes. If you aren't happy to tithe, you are a most egregious sinner. Have you forgotten this wonderful story from the book of Acts?

Acts 5: 1Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. 3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
7About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8Peter asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?"
"Yes," she said, "that is the price."
9Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also."
10At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

God kills Ananias and Sapphira for not giving Peter all the money he asks for.

But let me guess, this part of the Bible doesn't count because you don't like it

Well you folks stick to your guns if you choose, and I will stick to mine. Even if scripture did condemn homosexuality, I am absolutely 100% convinced that consenting gay relationships are something that please the Lord. If you knew Jesus like I do, you would know that He approves of love in all its forms.

So many people here cannot see beyond the black and white text. People, you CANNOT reach God, you CANNOT know Him, and you CANNOT be saved unless you ask Him into your lives and have a personal relationship with Him.

He is a God of love, and He will help you to be a better person. A less spiteful person. A less hateful person. You will cease judging people by their race, creed, sex or sexual orientation and you will instead see them as fellow human beings in need of love and salvation as much as your true blue all-white American neighbour.

    In Christ,
    Stevie.

Oh, good, another person who "hears from God." It's funny how many people come to this board claiming that they "hear from God" when "God" tells them all mutually exclusive things. It's as though they actually weren't hearing from God at all.
