I don't go to many movies, so no. As far as a child kissing the picture of their dead mother, my mother died when I was young, I can honestly say I have never kissed a picture of her in my life.

That's being sentimental, we were discussing worshiping something. I would save my dogs from a fire, I don't worship them. Don't try and turn this around, you catholics worship Mary more than you worship Jesus himself.

they indeed are not saving the paper within the album, but cherished memories of that person. When someones kisses or hugs a photo, they are remembering and honour that person dearest to them, not simply kissing a piece of paper.

Common sense?

So how many of these people put up statues of those cherished people where they make crowns of flowers, place candles at it's feet and bow down to pray to it. It seems like you'll worship pretty much anything.

Im not saying not to save your material possessions in a fire, just drawing your attention to the fact that photographs are not merely pieces of paper. Just as dogs are not a ball of hair with 4 legs.

When we kneel before a statue of Mary, we are not kneeling to the atomic structure of the stone surface, we are venerating Mary, the person that the picture or statue is pointing to. and Mary being completely conformed to the will of God is like a road map directed to reach Jesus. Just as Mary gave birth and brought Jesus in the World, so to can Mary bring Jesus into our own world.

Yeah, yeah, you don't worship her, you just do everything that is akin to worshiping, but it's not worship.

There's a huge difference between admiring a Picasso to putting flowers on Picasso's head, surrounding his paintings with candles and praying to Picasso to give you an in with Jesus. If I saw somebody doing those things, then yeah, I would say they were worshiping Picasso.

As the terminology of Christian theology developed, the Greek term latria came to be used to refer to the honor that is due to God alone, and the term dulia came to refer to the honor that is due to human beings, especially those who lived and died in God’s friendship—in other words, the saints. Another attempt to make clear the difference between the honor due to God and that due to humans has been to use the words adore and adoration to describe the total, consuming reverence due to God and the terms venerate, veneration, and honor to refer to the respect due humans. Unfortunately, many non-Catholics have been so schooled in hostility toward the Church that they appear unable or unwilling to recognize these distinctions. They confidently (often arrogantly) assert that Catholics "worship" Mary and the saints, and, in so doing, commit idolatry. This is patently false, of course, but the education in anti-Catholic prejudice is so strong that one must patiently explain that Catholics do not worship anyone but God—at least given the contemporary use of the term.
