Your dogs are NOT your children!
I roll my eyes every time I hear this. The only people who say this are people who can't have, won't, or don't want kids.
Pet Food companies realize this, and now they're marketing to a new customer base: homosexual couples. They can't have kids, and they all have these cute little rat dogs which they love like kids.
When I heard the advertisement for Blue Buffalo dog food on the TV today and they referred to dog owners as 'dog parents' I knew instantly that it was the gays who they were targeting.
I was able to find this easily on their website:
It's right there in plain English: pet parents buy this food. Who has that much disposable income besides the DINKS, anyway?
In addition, they advertise that their food is holistic and organic as if it was served from some fancy taco bar. C'mon people, they're just dogs. They don't care if they eat high-fructose corn syrup, or not. Dogs are supposed to eat table scraps, not expensive boutique dog food.
Whatever. Do you want your neighbor to think that you're a gay if he sees you in the check-out aisle at the Piggly-Wiggly with two bags of gay Blue Buffalo dog food in your cart? I sure don't.
