If one believes in a supreme being who is not necessarily a piece of crap, it doesn't necessarily make him an atheist.

Correction: a person who believes in a supreme being unrelated to any religion is not an atheist neither an agnostic. There are other terms describing delusional people like that.

Now of course, since your attempts to eliminate the distinction are only to desperately assert who will be going to HELL and who is worthy of heaven, the whole subject has been corrupted and irrelevant. Some of you making the futile attempt to compare an agnostic and an atheist are missing one key point. Most atheists and agnostics don't believe in the so-called "God" as a reaction to the moral contradictions and schizophrenia in religion and the holy books. Some of you idiots think your petty God holds a monopoly, and by your logic, if he doesn't believe in him or claims to be undecided, he is either an agnostic or an atheist. NOT true, although if they were, it's nothing to be ashamed about. What is an atheist to you might be a believer in his own terms. That's the spirit! It's only too late once you've drawn your last breath. When you meet the Jesus face to face and give an account of your behaviors (2 Corinthians 5:10), then it will be too late. If you haven't accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you'll be doomed to eternal damnation (John 3:18). If however, you've accepted Him and pledged yourself to love and obey Him (John 14:15), then you'll not have to worry about giving any kind of account, as the Lord Himself tells us He will have forgotten (Isaiah 44:22). Not unlike an old lady who's forgotten that she's already told the same stories of her pathetic youth four times before dessert comes, your sins will have been forgotten and you would be a fool to bring them up then.

While it's true, atheists attempt to rationalize their beliefs to lend some justification to their sinful, disgusting behavior, it doesn't change the fact that the word "agnostic" itself is naught but a misnomer, a distraction from the real issue - You may have excused your Sin, but the Lord has not (Romans 6:23).

That joke reminds me of my own favourite joke about agnostics. Are you ready? Here goes: An atheist, an agnostic and a Christian all consider walking into a bar. Then the Christian decides it's a pit of sin so he stands outside preaching and rebuking everyone who goes in, the atheist walks in, drinks 8 double vodkas and some mysterious blue drinks, rapes the bartender and then kills himself because he's read too much French philosophy and believes there's nothing to live for, and the agnostic is still standing in the middle of the road trying to decide whether to walk in or not, so he gets hit by a car, dies, and goes directly to HELL.

Atheists on the other hand are solid in their belief that there is no God and have no doubts at all that they are right in that belief.
