This French idiot is actually wearing sunglasses on a plane!
Now that summer is upon us it's time to break out the shirtsleeves and loafers! I, for one, cannot wait for the warm weather and the time I can spend out of doors enjoying God's beautiful gift to us!
However, there's something that has bothered me since I was a child: sunglasses. I refuse to wear sunglasses. It is my own belief, perhaps yours as well, that those who wear sunglasses are not showing respect for the Lord. There's something just not Christian about them.
In addition to making people look stupid and pretentious, sunglasses disfigure your view of the way God intended for you to see the world. If he wanted it to be night time, all the time, he would have rested on day one.
There are any number of points, that can be backed up with scripture, about why one shouldn't wear sunglasses. For one, sunglasses are an obvious form of personal vanity. They are not necessary and most of the people who wear them are merely trying to attract attention or trying to look "cool". It's even worse when they spend a lot of money on them. God teaches us to be humble. There is nothing humble about a $300 pair of sunglasses. If that isn't enough Isaiah 5:20-21 states:
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; That put darkness for light, and light for darkness; That put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!"
Now, with this in mind, consider the groups of people who always wear sunglasses: homers, rock and roll musicians, rappers, Europeans (especially Scandinavians), Californians (especially movie people in Los Angeles), terrorists, drunkards, Obama and so on. You can even combine these: Elton John always has sunglasses on and he is a homer European musician.
I also don't buy this nonsense about "prescription sunglasses". If you really can't look at sunlight without crying then you are surely being punished for your sins. Otherwise you're just a coward who is pretending to be special. Either way you are obviously not a good Christian.
Seems to me that people did OK without sunglasses for hundreds of years. Now, when so many have lost their faith, they are a sign of the times. I'm afraid the future is not that bright.
