Somebody got in just under the wire for 2016. Actor, William Christopher, who played a Catholic priest, on Mash, the liberal passion play of Alan Alda, died at the age of 84 on this day of the glorious year of Our Lord, 2016.


I remember reading about him in an article on the dearth of Christian characters on television. The writer mentioned that Father Mulcahy, the character Christopher played, was surprised in one episode when his prayer efforts worked. The writer, clearly a fluffy bunny Christian, found this to be a negative portrayal of Christian faith-- because the priest was characterized as ineffective. But, based on everything that the show and its characters stood for, God should not have been in a big hurry to grant the prayers of a Mary-worshiper.


There are so many people who think that they are Christians who just don't get it.
