I hear this thing is all but passed. There are isolated pockets of Democraps willing to filibuster with regular Senators but all in all I think America as we know it is doomed.
I have already begun to check the Compounds medical supplies to ensure we can make it at least until Obama is out of office in 2012. Hopefully we will get an actual American citizen next time.

Ok, now my antipodean barbarism really IS showing itself. In Aust, we've had free, public medicine forever - the only reason I can think for a powerhouse nation like America NOT to have this Rolls Royce of medical systems is that it is Un-Christian, in some way that escapes me.

Can some True Christian enilighten me about this? Why does this system not suit America? Why is it Un-Christian?

Because it attacks the free market system where private insurance companies can openly compete with each other.

The officers and board members of those companies work very hard for their richly derserved retention bonuses and stock options. They are True Americans(tm) fighting for the very survival of the nation.

Without them all the minimum wage employees in their companies would be thrown into the bread lines, without hope, forever to wonder where their next meal will come from.

Without those leaders our entire economy would collapse. The first to go would be Cadillac and BMW dealers. The country clubs and golf courses would go next and become weed entangled jungles where the homeless insurance company employees would erect "Obamavilles" and be left to forage in the no-longer safe gated communities dotted with abandoned and foreclosed properties.

Is that what you want to see?

I live in Europe and the free medicine is not free. You have to bring 'gifts" to the doctors! the better the gift, the better the care. It costs at least one bottle of slivovice to even see the nurse! The dentists still use pedal powered drills and you better hope you gave a good gift to him before he drills into your tooth. Painkillers? Ha! You get really drunk before you go!

Plus I heard that this bill still invokes the power of Death Panels, so we have *that* to look forward to. Not to mention that this is just the first step towards legally being able to execute Christians in the street. I wouldn't be surprised if the final version of this bill allows only non-Christians to carry guns, and makes it legal to shoot down Christians for being a "danger to society". It's a slippery slope: first you nationalize health care, then you have the Hitlers of society like Nancy Pelosi walking the streets looking to execute innocent Christians. It's all in the Bible about end-times.

Government run healthcare? Have any of you ever been to the VA? No thanks.
The one I go to for my head pills was built in the 20s and the doctors all smoke while they examine you. The only hot water is in the ladies room and the cold water is sort of tan colored and smells like pennies. I like to bring my own bottled water so when they reuse the syringes they can boil them in clean water at least. I donate firewood every winter to keep the building warm for the old timers. I hear most of the doctors are actual doctors though with real degrees but the nurses are all volunteers from the local churches. My bill from the visits is always paid since I'm a confirmed American war hero(42 CK in one day) but half the time I feel that I have to do the follow up at the real hospital to get the tests checked again. For instance, last week I went in for an Xray after I fell off the Deere and twisted my ankle. The VA has 6 Xray machines but two are for parts and the others are pretty old. I mean from the 50s and 60s old. So when the Xray gets developed in the darkroom it is in black and white and usually out of focus. The ones at the hospital are new and clean and aren't rusty and when you lay down in it it makes a pleasant humming as it takes pictures of your guts and puts it right on a computer screen in full color.
The government can't even run itself much less the entire healthcare system of the entire country. The only thing the government runs well is the military and even then only the Marines are properly trained and equipped. Ineptitude is the governments way of handling everything. Obama needs to keep his flat nose out of my healthcare.

Australia is a relatively simple culture, when the Govornment decrees free, unlimited universal health care from birth to death, I guess the lack of complexity in our society allows this to work, where it cannot, apparently, work in more complex cultures, for many reasons that do not exist here, reasons I do not begin to understand.

This isn't an issue of complexity friend, it is simple social justice. Take Brother Montague; the man works hard for his six figure salary. He has factories in China to run to keep America strong. Now take someone named Joe; Joe worked at a car parts factory in Iowa the Brother Montague bought out and then off shored to China. Why should Borther Montague pay for Joe's lazy-i-lost-my-job-bo-ho ass just because Joe got cancer? No, that is wrong.

6 figures is a modest living. If folks were more successful and prayed more and worked harder maybe they wouldn't need hand outs from the government. If I can be successful then anyone should be able to be successful. It isn't a matter of greed or stinginess, it's a matter of fairness. I am forced to pay taxes by the government or else they will arrest me, take my land, property and freedom and imprison me. They do this at the point of a gun in the end. So I pay my taxes at the rate they set forth and they use these taxes for Americas benefit supposedly. I don't see how giving free medical care, welfare, food stamps, rent assistance and bilingual offices to scumbly low lifes and illegals benefit America. It is a waste of MY taxes to support a family of Mexicans in Arizona. It does no one in America any good except for that family of criminals who shouldn't even be here to begin with. Rewarding scumbags and lowlifes while punishing the successful is anti-American. Rich people are rich for a reason, poor people are poor for a reason. Making them equal only means breaking the rich to support the poor and I don't think Jesus approves.
