They're at it again!! Those liberal tax-and-spend fat cats down in Des Moines are WASTING our tax dollars on pork barrel projects!!
When will the fat cats, the big city union bosses, the meddling reformers, and socialistic big government types down in Des Moines stop wasting our tax dollars on big government boondoggles and pork barrel spending???!?!!
We don't need nanny-state solutions like expanded child health insurance, or "workplace safety" regulations, or "health inspectors," "clean" water, or "emergency service personnel." We don't need union bosses in Iowa. Back when America was truly the land of the free, we had VOLUNTEER fire departments, PRIVATE security police paid for and commanded by the owners of giant unregulated corporations, and benificent, jolly robber barons that CARED about their chattel!!!
Everyone knows that Big Government doesn't work--- that's why we need Blackwater and Halliburton!
Tax officials warn of tight budget

Despite a strong start in tax collections, state officials are warning that a tight state budget could be looming because of previous spending commitments.
Tax collections in the first quarter of fiscal year 2008 were 8.7 percent ahead of the same period a year ago, according to a report by the Legislative Services Agency.
Tax receipts grew by $126.4 million over first-quarter collections in 2007. The increase was more than double projections set by the state's Revenue Estimating Conference, which estimated a 4.2 increase.
Dennis Prouty, the legislative agency's director and a member of the Revenue Estimating Conference, said state revenues traditionally begin the fiscal year higher than expected and moderate to lower levels throughout the year.
"There's nothing to indicate to me that it's not going to come back down or settle into something that's a lot closer to our estimate," Prouty said.
He said the state should wait to see what effect financial problems in house construction and sales and other economic sluggishness will have on the state.
