That's not true. God hates the sin AND the sinner, and Jesus is God (John 10:30 I and my Father are one.).

Before you complain about the the fact that the verses I cited were from the Old Testament, as if that somehow makes them worthless, consider this:

In the Old Testament, it says that God hates "all workers of iniquity" (Ps 5:5).

In the New Testament, what does Jesus say that he is going to do to these workers of iniquity? Is he going to love them? Is he going to be their pal, and tell them that it's ok to be themselves? Let's see...

Matt 13:41-42 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The purely hateful and ignorant content of this thread makes it really hard to believe that there is a congregation of people who follow your words. I ask you if Jesus' teachings instruct you to be so hate filled and ignorant to the truth about an entire city of people. I wonder how all the baptist residents here feel about your words, calling EVERYONE here satan worshiping heathens? If you had ever actually been here, you'd know that everything you have just stated is completely false.

On the other hand, I love your nickname. John 8 is one of my favorite books of the Bible (though, really, they're all my favorites). I especially love the way Jesus rebuked the Jews in John 8:44: Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. Jesus is such a great role model!

I have not been to the introduction thread yet, and I am not sure if I will. I just wanted to respond. Not debate.

I do not claim to have as much knowledge of the bible as many of the members on this forum. I do believe in God, and did grow up in a small church in southern oregon. By growing up I mean attending church, practicing what was taught to us through the bible, and believing whole heartedly in it. I can't attest to how much I still hold onto from my time at church. But do know that since starting a family of my own I do have an interest to go back. Having this background I respect your ability to whole heartedly believe and enjoy the bible, and the teachings the bible provides. Now I may be confused a bit more now than I was when I was younger. Mainly with the way society has changed, and with it our views on religion. I do think that over the years things get twisted and altered, and that the bible was the one thing that withstood this change. Or should withstand it. Maybe not so much in the literal sense however. Do you believe that the teachings of the time reflect what we should be practicing today? This is not me debating. I am honestly curious what you think.

The thing that brings me to ask this question is this one verse from Timothy.

2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (King James Version)
