  • Hello

My name is John, I am 29. As of right now I do not attend a church. It has been some years since I have gone. However I do have a desire to attend again. Previously I had attended New Life Christian Church.

    A favorite verse.

Honestly aside from googling bible verses, I just chose something that was one of the first things taught at my church. And I like to think that most people follow.

    Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Hello John, and welcome to our forums! I am ever so glad to hear you want to repent of your morally-bastardly ways and deny the sinful lifestyle you have relished in up to this point in your life. I do so hope you have no children yet, as it would be a shame to raise sweet little creatures knowing they are Hell-bound because you yourself could not bother to keep the LORD only in your eyes and mind, as any other affections in your soul would naturally be idolatrous (Exodus 20:5). Anyway, how can we help you find Redemption this fine day, that is, other than pointing out the value of using a credible version of God's Holy Word?
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

      Welcome John.

Hopefully, you are here with good intentions and plan to immerse yourself in the swaddling love of Jesus.

How many sons has your wife produced for God?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

        Re: Hello

        Nope, no children yet.

Honestly, I am not trying to cause any problems. I think my curiosity was peaked when I saw the post on eugene, OR. Not so much to debate the topic itself, but to ask questions about what you believe to be right. Growing up in a small church was one of the best experiences of my life. It helped shape the person I am today. Not so much from a religious standpoint (I mean I do still believe, but haven't gone to church in a long time like I said.), but also morally. From my understanding the moral code in the bible is pretty clear. Now I can't say I have been a perfect person, because...well, I haven't. But I do get a bit frustrated when I hear a group of people make accusations about a small town. I mean Eugene isn't just made up of hippies. That frustration comes from maybe the public image that is given to the baptist community. However unfair it may be. It's unfortunate in my opinion that people are pitted against each other constantly. I am not trying to speak unfairly of your beliefs either.
Aside from this. What is a proper version of the bible? The one I currently own is a King James Version. And I am also curious what you think of pentecostal (I hope I spelled that right.), or Presbyterians? Please remember, I am a bit sensitive.

I am nervous of the response I will get. But, I guess that's the price I pay for coming here and posting.

John, we believe in God. He created everything. He gave us His Word in the form of the KJV Bible. In it, he explains everything and has a solution for every problem or question we can ever have. He tells us to follow it and be considered for a place in Heaven. Simple. You do not have to figure anything out. You do not have to 'try and figure out what he meant by...' because it is clear and direct. The Bible does not get changed to suit you. You change to suit the Bible.
Christianity is not a wishy washy way of life. Either you are a Christian and might go to Heaven or you are not a Christian and will go to Hell.

Maybe instead of stirred up, it had risen to a crescendo and was bubbling/erupting out the top like a hot volcano? Sometimes, my love for Jesus peaks like that.

I understand. That is why I posed the question from earlier. Why does the KJV have this verse.

2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (King James Version)

Could you please explain that to me?
(And by explain...I mean I don't quite understand the wording. I don't understand what it means in a literal sense.)

John, if you don't mind my saying, you sound a bit like a pansy. Are you one of those "metrosexuals" as well? You know, those guys who think they're not gay but ooze gaydome from their well-moisturized pores. No offense, but you don't sound much like a man to me. Then again, you really don't know what you believe, so how could you take a stand, right?

So let's try this. What do you think the Gospel Message is?

You mean the fools who bounce around and yell in gibberish? Why on earth would you want to know about them other than they are spiraling straight towards Hell? Why, they're as ignorant and ridiculous as the Mormons and their "magic underwear"!

Johh, pull your pants out a bit. You see that thing dangling there between your legs? You see a pair of round objects just behind it? That there is your manhood. Embrace it.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

What foul abomination of a false Bible did you use there, sonny?

Might be worth carrying on reading:
13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

It means that all Scripture -- the Old and New Testaments, the law and the prophets and the epistles -- was written by men who were inspired by God. As such, the Bible is the only reliable source of doctrine and instruction in Christian living. If people don't live up to the Bible's standards, they are to be rebuked (reproved or corrected). Read the Bible, follow its guidance, and you will always know the right thing to do.

John, Of course you are welcome, if what you say is true - if you believe in God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and if you are willing to accept the Lord into you. If you come to mock us and deceive us, you are unwelcome. You may have seen what we have said to heathens who are here for their own entertainment. Maybe that has made you nervous? If you are being honest with us, you are welcome.

Thank you. It seems the longer I chat with you folks the more welcome I feel. I think my main point in coming by was to learn why there was so much hatred. And to maybe give you a viewpoint of someone that lives in eugene. Just try not to be so quick to judge a book by its cover. There are a lot of people that live here that try their best to do good in the eyes of God, and fellow man.

I may have reached a point in my life where I needed to talk to someone about religion. I think i may be visiting a local church I had once visited when first moving here. I can't help but think that if I didn't post here I wouldn't be doing it. Thank you. God bless.
